To keep ac/powersteering or to DELETE?! DD Set up.
Boosting my gsr dc2 real soon. Got some different options of manifolds to choose from. My big question however is should I keep ac and or powersteering? It's going to be my DD. What are the advantages/disadvantages. It's not a huge build. whp range between 300-400.
Personally, id try to keep both. I got rid of PS about 5 years ago but always kept a/c. I am now looking at the mr2 electronic power steering setup for my current build. I miss power steering and would never ditch a/c. Granted my car isnt a full drag car...if i drive it on the weekend id prefer not to turn it into a sweat box or have sore arms from a casual drive.
There are plenty of options available to keep both these days...i wouldnt drop them if you didn't have to. My 2cents

my coupe has no A/C and no P/S. my sedan has both. honestly you get used to living without them. as for P/S, you can always swap in a manual rack to make life easier. as long as I have one car with A/C I'm okay with that. being hot isn't really the worst part, it's having fogged up windows that you can't clear up.

I never use ac but that's only it gives me headaches. I don't have ps either and unless you parallel park a lot you won't know its gone
Keep everything you can fit. It's nice to have ac and 400hp. I did it for years until recently made the car track only and started tearing out everything. Being in Texas wish it still had ac
Manual rack works wonders if you want to ditch ps and saves weight

I saved just over 30lbs. going from my EK crossmember with all PS parts attached, to an EG crossmember with manual parts attached. And driving with a manual rack is not a hassle on these cars. Ratio is good, so very hard to tell.

I don't have either in my ride. It doesn't bother me much because I have another car that has a/c and power steering
Why the switch to eg k member? Manual rack works on ek k members. I actually have an eg manual rack in my dc chassis. Glad i switched it out.
The way i see it, if your car isn't a weekend car/drag setup....keep both. The car comes with it and is within your purchase choice why would you want to delete it regardless of where you live. (talking about a daily car here)
How much of a difference is it if I do pulls with and without power steering? Occasionally I'll take it to the strip. Wanna make sure it's safe to drive.
It's safe to drive no matter what providing All of your suspension parts are in good shape. Power steering rack with the power disconnected overtime Will wear out and it's more difficult to steer when you're not moving the once You're moving, the manual rack it's easier to turn your not moving It also gives you a lot more feedback from the car some people like it some people don't like it

I even deleted the wipers on my s13 and it was my daily lol
I'm trying to find a manual ek rack locally, do the eg manual racks swap over to eks easily?

PS is nice to have, and fairly easy to keep in a Honda.
AC is a BITCH to keep in a Honda, and being as your location is Oregon, I wouldn't waste my time. High RPM limiter banging kills compressors anyway, even when they're not engaged.

EDIT: Yes, just looked at some photos I snapped when I was doing the swap, and the EK rack attaches differently than the EG rack. And I was having a seriously hard time finding a manual EK rack, since they were only in 1 or 2 chassis.

I'm gonna hit up a few pull-a-parts. They're bound to have at least one. Or I can pull my ps rack apart and remove the piston and other components then fill the rack with fluid and seal it. Diy manual rack lol
Yeah but you don't get the real effect of a manual rack because its different gearing. Post on here someone will have a rack for you. I got about 10 offers in a week to sell me a manual rack. Men was in good shape and worked out well. Even the inner tie rods were good, just threaded my outers on and was good to go

I've also been wondering about rack and tie rod mods (drifting is a job lol)
Since I'll be doing a lot of mountain runs/track days I want the most nimble rack possible, that also allows me a little more steering angle for some of the really tight turns as well as making alignment at the track much easier

Driven plenty of hondas with no ps. Havnt had a car with ac I'm a few years lol. Hondas with no ps are a breeze compared to when power steering went out on my gmc full size truck lol. That got old after 2 months. It's all in what you want. I can live without em.

I'm still debating about doing a PS setup with a first gen mr2 electric PS pump
Also tossed around an electric ac compressor idea... I have a bunch of old IBM servo motors from a Seried 6 machine. Run on 12/24 volts dc and have plenty of torque to spin the compressor
