use as dd. probly be running ~8-10 lb. for street. i hear boosting by gear is good. never done it so ill try it out. id like to see around 400-450 hp.

Curious how you went from ball bearing vs journal to 400-450hp at 8-10 psi? Me personally the ball bearing will be faster to spool, but in terms of life, they both last the same, just make sure they are appropriately receiving oil and run a turbo timer for optimal cool down time.

im sorry. i should of explained better. what i meant was i will boost with about ~8-10lbs (~350ish hp) on day to day driving, but i wanna be able to get up to ~400-450hp on higher boost and not worry bout my turbo blowing up or burning out. im guessing this will happen at around 14lbs of boost.

yea, im ubber tired. so my bad for not making that clear earlier.

10 PSI on different turbos will have different outputs. Now you want to have two different tune's essentially, one for DD and the other for track, correct? With that said, what gas will you run? Also what motor are we talking about? 400-450hp will need some internal work, where 350whp shouldn't be an issue, but again what motor?

its on a k20z3. internals are built up already in preperation of this build. i have brian crower stage 2 n/a cams in it now. that may change when i do the build, gonna try those cams for now cuz they are already in the car. got wiseco pistons and eagle rods. yes, i essentially am going to have 2 tunes that i can upload via flash pro.

Sorry but I am not the best to ask in terms of the K series motor, although I can speak on behalf of D's and B's and turbo's. Someone else will have to help you pick the turbo to meet the application your after though. From what it seems your well off, although those cams concern me.

the cams have suited me well for my n/a motor. they have been fun, but then again will they suit the needs of my motor for f/i. that is the question. ill run em for a week and see how they perform unless i hear otherwise. if anything ill just pick up another set and replace em when i do the build.

here's how he answers the question of the right turbo. As ball-bearing cartridges, though nice, normally are not necessary unless doing some types of endurance racing.

Budget (to spend on a turbocharger only)
type of racing -- Sounds like street/strip
type of exhaust manifold use.
Do you plan to keep A/C and/or Power Steering?
Chassis?
what kind of maximum power on which fuel? (you said 450whp, but not which fuel to use)

Journal or ball-bearing is an easy question.. its everything else that's making it difficult.
