i dont think that the wastegate not having a downpipe would have anything to do with the smells you are getting. Allot of people run like that

Well, many people say that their first drive in a turbo powered vehicle is intoxicating...

Sorry, couldn't resist. It could be the wastegate. Were you driving with the hvac controls set to fresh air or recirc? Either way, congrats on stepping into the world of never ending spending....errr....turbo power

I felt the same thing when I first started driving. I felt dizzy when I got out. After a week I can't notice it anymore.

I would be concerned.....make sure no outside air is coming in (recirculate) close any outside vents and see if it still happens....or get a carbon monoxide detector (if they make em) cuz the way human brains work is that we become use to odours and eventually don't notice them but just cuz we don't think they are there doesn't mean they arent killing us.....CO is bad for you!!!

i drove the car again today... still a little smelly but its kinda the same like how i got the test pipe.. but eventually that went away.. maybe this will also... the car is REALLY slow with the a/c on.. like on a hill or at low rpms... my friend gets this too with his turbo car.. are we alone?

its normal for the car to be slow on a hill with a/c and turbo...cause your motor has to overcome the backpressure created by the turbo and run the a/c, WHILE going up a hill too....

its like that in the beginning...

then you get used to it. heheh

you shouldnt have a leak. might just be the fumes goin in your vents.

They do make CO detectors, my parents have a few in their house. The prob is that they plug directly into the walls, but they were pretty cheap I believe. I'm sure you could find one for like $15-20 and just run an extension cord w/ ground plugs(3 prong socket) into your ride. Let us know how it turns out, I'm interested in this. When I got new headers put on my ride I had the same problems, a guy told me it was just the gaskets adjusting and its pretty normal to smell and whatnot for a few days.

or, you can just buy a 12v-110v converter from Fry's electronics or some store similar and just plug in the detector so you can use it while driving around. the converter shouldn't cost more than 50 bux and if you spend alot of time in your car i don't think its a bad investment.

Maybe it was the oils and **** burning off the turbo and manifold from touching it. That smell should go away too once its all burt off.
