Since the damn archives are still down, I need to know what I'll need to put an ITR LSD in my LS tranny, i want to change the gear sets also, but keep 5th for highway cruising...I was thinking about quaife but I need cheap at this point
I know I need a ITR final drive, but which size, etc...thanks guys

you have to grind the case, it won't go in without it, the diff housing is too small. For all the work, you'd probably be best with a GSR or ITR tranny, save you a lot of time and cost would be about the same.

i was gonna do a bunch of crazy stuff to my LS tranny. was gonna swap in a jdm ITR 4.785 fd w/ a quaffe and use the LS gears in the LS case. but i decided to go w/ something simple and just use a strait, stock, gsr. dropped right in and had no problems w/ it. the gsr gearing is perfect.
i'm in the middle of doing an r lsd in my ls tranny, i haven't had to grind anything?? so i'm not sure what you guys are talking about, what exactly did you have to grind??? the only trouble i'm having is i found out you need the r final drive, or i beleive a gsr........i have a 66 tooth ring gear and i need like a 14 tooth counter shaft.......i have a 15 now and it's too thick, it won't fit in the case, and i think the only countershaft that will work is the r one.......any enlightment???
he is talking about grinding if you put a LS diff in a ITR/GSR casing. Its not a direct swap. If you buy a diff for a LS/ B16 it will fit those trannys. It will not fit the gsr/ITR and vice versa.

so wait...let me see if i can make sense of this for myself...
an R LSD will fit into an LS, but the LS wont fit in the R...thats what you're saying correct?
so I'd need the R Final Drive, and the Countershaft? anything else?

you prolly need to replace the roller bearings on the diff with sealed ball bearings......other then that according to what i've figured out you just need the final drive also, the only ring gear i have gotten to fit on the diff is the 66 tooth one and i need like a 14 tooth or 13 tooth countershaft.........cuase the 15 tooth one won't work, it's too thick
