Default Intercooler Science

I've been reading Corkey Bell's "Maximum Boost" and it raised a few questions for me regarding IC design. Of the variouse designs available how do end inlet/outlet tube placement (bottom of end tanks, center of end tanks or alternated top and bottom of end tanks) and channel direction (vertical vs horizontal) affect pressure drop and cooling efficiency? I'm looking for the most optimum design for my 99 Integra LS project. Any help with design and size. Thanx.

Take any off the shelf Precision intercooler and you'll be good to go.

I'd be more concerned with internals (bar/plate, fin/tube) rather then the end tanks. Keep transitions smooth so the air doesn't lose its velocity, but then again I still think we are talking about very small numbers.

Good point about the internals. What are the pros and cons of Bar & Plate and Tube & Fin? Thanx

Bar and plate flows more, tube and fin is more efficient.

get the biggest intercooler in your budget buy a 10 electric fan and bolt it to the intercooler and you will be good to go ive done this with the cheapest intercoolers u could find and they droped temps better then some of the best ones out their
