Default Injector wiring....WTF... Help

Hey guys, I wired up a resistor box on my friend's car, it's a GSR w/ dsm 450 in it. I followed the write up here https://honda-tech.com/forums/forced-induction-16/official-injector-resistor-box-install-56k-buy-broadband-517274/
the strange thing is when I got to cyl #4 someone had previously cut the yellow and yellow/black wires and switched them, crimped them, and taped it back up. the car ran fine this way.....Doesn't make sense to me. So I went ahead and left that alone and continued the install. no fuel to #4. sounds like a subaru. switched the wires to the injector plug back to how it is supposed to be and now the car won't start. Any ideas? I don't understand how i would have run with the wires switched to begin with.

You can switch the wires to the injectors and it won't affect anything. The injector coils do not have polarity. There is something else going on.

If that's the case then I'll just start troubleshooting and try to forget about the backwards wires.
