Default ignition timing

i have a d15z1 in my del sol

maybe this is becouse its economy model or someone may have used wrong distributor. but my fullly advanced distributor my timing light reads that its set to 14 degrees. any body got thoughts on this?

i want to get to at least 16 degrees, the only thing i can think of doing is grinding the holes of my current distrib so i can get that extra 2 degrees

How are you timing it? Are you waiting for it to warm up? Have you tried unplugging your IACV to see if you can get the idle down to around 600 before timing it?

I'm not saying you don't have the wrong distributor, but as far as I know, they're all pretty much interchangeable for OBD1 d-series. Without knowing more about your setup, I couldn't judge.

Are you using the stock ECU, or is it chipped?

chipped but the stock ecu was the same thou. i dont think that statement about distribs is true. vtec and non-vtec are diff.

Ah, well like I said, I wasn't sure the in's and out's of your setup. I assumed you had at least had a VTEC dizzy, but I could have been incorrect. Did you piece your swap together, or did you just get a longblock and salvage parts off your D15B7?
