figure out if it is overheating in boost,idle etc.... if under boost does your coolant reservoir bubble over with coolant let the car cool down check coolant leave check for leaks remove radiator cap and bleed the coolant system with heat on for a good 20mins also during this time make sure fans are working and pull the heat out toward the firewall test-drive. ok. no move to next step try the simple stuff first cheap that way. check and replace thermostat. check coolant hoses, check service on water pump and timing belt next check engine compression and cylinder leak-down test. my number showed up low on compression and high on leak-down chance are that you headgasket is bad if anyone has anything to add to this feel free to pm me or post it and ill make changes Modified by vaporboy12 at 4:16 PM 8/25/2005 |

There is also a problem that I have been having for years with my car overheating on the High way ONLY. There has been a few threads created about it recently (which suprised me because I thought the problem was unique to my car). It is a problem with running half size radiators on B and H series motors, and the cars aero dynamics. The only solution so far is to replace the radiator with a full size radiator, but I should be testing a different solution pretty soon and I'll post it up if it works out. Just thought I'd add this since it's been coming up alot lately.

thanks but there got to be a coolant issure when you over heat. ive been running a half core on my bseriers for 3 years with no over heating problem and my intercooler blocks the whole thing greddy type 24

you may think so, but I've gone through it all. I've been doing this shit for a long time and think I know where the problem lies. I've had two different motors, two different radiators, and two different intercoolers. It has alot to do with pressures and aero dynamics. I've done an energy balance on my cooling system and also done a breif analysis on my aero situation and am confident that I have found the problem. I dont know where the link is to the thread where people have been having similar problems, but it equivilates to some times a half size radiator is not enough. I doubt in maryland you see 100+ ambient temps on a regualar basis, and I dont know anything about you chasis or setup, but I guess a half size is good enough for you, bit it's not for every one. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif

I've also had about 5 different fans. The one that I found works the best is the slim line fal fan or an oem fan, because the shroud is very imortant. But yeah my fan is turning the right direction.

im also haveing the hwy problem also and have done lots of things to try to fix it
im gonna try to put a piece of cardbaord on the open section were the ac used to be so that the air is forced to go into the rad |

well you can jump so it on all the time when your keys are on works great and all you need is one wire and it takes like 2 mins to do

O yes i know but it doesnt overheat on city driving so id rather not have the fan burn out from over use til i can check it for sure |

a fan is morre like to burn out from stop and starting than on all the time
