Just when I thought everything was running back to normal...

700km into my run-in period, and white smoke starts bellowing out of my exhaust pipe.
The engine is perfectly fine, did a leakdown and everything looks great.. the turbo, on the other hand... is f*cked. Looks like it broke when I spun a rod bearing
A lot of oil is leaking into the exhaust pipe, causing the white smoke - the shaft is very loose.
What's worse is that nobody in Thailand knows how to fix Turbonetics turbos, since they don't sell them over here, and everyone uses Garrett and japanese-made turbos, so I'll have to spend lots of money sending it over to the US to have it fixed.
My other option is to find an equal-sized garret or IHI turbo (maybe RHC6?), and have new flanges made for my turbo manifold and exhaust
i want to cry

actually, since day one of firing up the engine.. there was smoke.. but it was very little. we thought it was left-over engine oil still inside the exhaust, so we thought nothing of it, and after a few days of granny driving, it did disappear.
after 600km, i started introuding some boost to the engine.. no WOT driving, just gently allowing at max 0.2-0.4 bar of boost into the engine, never taking the engine higher than 5000rpm - after a few days, the white smoke came back.. and this is where I am right now

EDIT: Or if you know for sure its your turbo, just get a Garrett from Yahoo japan and get it fitted to you manifold

I'd find something in your country that is easily found, this way you can get it rebuilt easier and quicker.... and if you need to get another one, dont have to wait.... go with whats available....
Put a filter inline before the feed line into your turbo. turbo's aren't something that will live through a bunch of metal shavings being force-fed through it.

turbonetics = garrett made? hmm.. sounds interesting.. i'm gonna have to follow up on this one.
i did find one place that says they can fix it, but they need to order parts from US, and they're gonna charge a lot of money, but its still cheaper than buying a new turbo - only thing is, they don't guaruntee the turbo after its been rebuilt
how much does it usually cost to rebuild a T3/T4 in the states?
(the one that comes with the F-Max kit)

Though I must be captain dumbass here doesn't white smoke usually infer water or coolant burning, Blue smoke oil, Black smoke fuel, I wouldn't suck up the crap the engine builder feeding ya, sounds like its leaking water/coolant to me. Oil doesn't burn white!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i would say drop the turbonetics...and get the garret, which is higher quality.
turbonettics uses garrett turbo platforms along with their manufactured parts, their seals is very prone to leakage. get a true garrett turbo and you'll be happier down the road.

The parts are made by Garrett and put together by Turbonetics. Only the housings and options differ. You should be able to use a Garrett re-build kit if you don't have any Turbonetics only options. Like the big shaft or gapless o-ring.
