ok guys so yesterday i just finished my turbo install on my em1.. everything went almost perfect.. we were just getting ready to tune it and we went to start the car and about the fourth time it turned over, but i heard dripping sound. i looked under the car and there was a big puddle of oil... so we shut it off and checked to make sure all the oil lines were on. we ended up pulling off the head and to find out that my brand new mls headgasket was bent.. in bent on the rear right headstud it like crushed down in there and didnt seal and thats what caused the oil to come out.. any ideas on what caused this? TIA
well if it was bent when you dropped the head on the gasket you probably moved the head around tring to find the holes for the dowel pins and bent it without you knowing. thats a commen thing. try to drop it in without moving it around. thats the only reason why it would get bent like that.

the tear shaped hole that you took a picture of is the hole for the vtec oil supply. and seeing that the copper spray looks untouched it appears you eiter installed the headgasket upside down or u used a vtec headgasket with a non vtec block

when i was an apprentice, i worked at an automotive machine shop. the first time i line bored a head was an old 1.8 or 1.6 vw rabbit head. i got done with it, 2 days later the shop that brought it to us said the cam snapped in 3 pieces. i freaked out, my mentor said to remove the head duct taping the gasket to the head to see the orientation. sure enough it was on upside down, and didnt leak but let no oil to the upper head. load off of my shoulders he hee.
learn from it. make that mistake again then you get the

haha i dont have anything to give you.. you can have the bent gasket if you want
i guess everything went too smooth i guess it was either goin go t be a pain to install everything or something stupid like this was going to happen.. its my first turbo install and im 17 but i did have alot of help from a guy who has done it about 20 times who did most of the work. im surprized he didnt catch that.. so you guys are pretty positive that it was upsidedown?

Btw if its any help. For some reason the headgasket said 82mm on it.. and if im not mistaken 81mm is the correct bore for a b16a2. Not sure if this really matters, just throwing in some ideas.

it also was a mr gasket. took it back and i got a fel-pro. imo even thought the fel-pro was cheaper it seems better to me. and i cant believe that they actually took it back.
