i searched on advanced website for the 1989 transam v6 turbo and found this
for 46 bux is this the sensor i need?

also is it bad to get one of these map sensors from the parts store considering its not OEM the dealer charges 75 some odd dollars for teh same thing but it is OEM. i mean it is just a map sensor coudl they malfunciotn cuz its lets say "cheap" ?

 

What you're looking for is the 3Bar MAP sensor from an 89 Turbo Trans AM.

3 Bar MAP sensor is GM part # 16040749
2 Bar MAP sensor is GM part # 16009886

It looks very similar to your picture, except the connector is slightly different.

 

well the picture in my first post is of the map sensor for the 1989 turbo transam. at least according to advanced auto parts website. i inputed the year 1989 then the make pontiac then the model trans am then it asked me if it was the 2.8 v6 FI turbo so i said yes and thats the map sensor it showed me. it looks juts like the pic in your post accept your pic is too dark to see the connector.

its best to make sure you have the exact GM part number tho.
