Default FMIC with oil inside. How to clean it out?

I bought a used FMIC and from the compressor side it has oil residue in it.
What are the best methods of cleaning this out?
Soak it in brake cleaner?

I know some of you have had this issue or seen it. What are recommendations.
TIA

use simple green form the part store works like a champ just cap one side of the intercooler and pull a gallon in depending on how big the intercooler is then let it sit for a bit and shack it around then drain make sure both sides are caped when shacking it.

i use brake cleaner for most cleaning needs. spray it in there, don't need to soak. and if you've got an air compressor, a little air pressure wouldn't hurt. brake cleaner FTW

Ok how about long term "side effects" of using like gas, brake cleaner and harsh chemicals. Hypothetically saying I capped one end filled with gas and shook the hell out of it and drained it. It came clean. What are some routes to take as far as a final rinse? Will harsh chemicals deteriorate the insides? I have some stuff kinda like the awesome. Maybe I will try that first.

Thanks for helpful responses. Don't normally get those posting in model spec forums.
Will keep posted. are there any write-ups of this or should I document???

just take some gas pour it in there and let it drip back into the gas can, your lawn mower will love a bit of lubricant in the gas
