Default First time at the track and I'm really dissapointed

Well I took the car to the track for the first time after the new setup and I was hoping for low13's to high 12's and it turned out neither...

I was running BFG Drag Radials and I was still spinning until end of 2nd gear. Then when i tried to slip the clutch I would just BOG... I really need to get this **** down but then on the 4th pass I broke my axles at the launch... this SUCKS...

Here are my times. I would really appreciate if you guys could give me some advice on what to do on how to get traction besides putting on some slics... some tips or hints...

1st Pass (best pass but bogged like a mother)
60ft... 2.5707
1/8ET... 9.3649
1/8MPH... 81.83
1/4ET... 14.02
1/4MPH... 105.85

2nd Pass (spun all the way to 3rd gear)
60ft... 2.6808
1/8ET... 9.8978
1/8MPH... 80.17
1/4ET... 14.6187
1/4MPH... 104.66

3rd Pass (bogged and missed second like 3-4 times)
60ft... 2.3728
1/8ET... 10.1241
1/8MPH... 77.29
1/4ET... 14.943
1/4MPH... 102.98

Here is the car...

for a second there i thought you had a four door integra with the JDM conversion, lol. Dont worry about the times, Its always hard launching a car the first time at the tracks. btw how are the DSM injectors working for you, is the idle okay

I would try different tire pressures. Do a few psi at a time.

Yeah try lowering the tire pressure, and just practice different launch rpms and maybe even slowly dipping into the throttle after launch to try and control wheel spin. You should also try and preload the driveline before launching, to help with and prevent broken axles. I do this by holding the ebrake at the line, at my launch rpm, with the clutch ever so slightly engaged by the time the tree drops.

Also, dsm 450s seem a little small for a built setup, even if they're maxxed somewhere around 300whp, I don't know what kind of times you should be expecting out of a full weight accord. Maybe low 13s.

It's funny how the first pass is the quickest then gets slower huh? Same thing happened to me.. Good luck

accords just don't make good race cars..it's going to take a lot to get that into the 12's.

It's also going to take a lot more than 4 runs to learn how to drive. Just keep practicing, and improving your suspension setup and play with tire pressure.

and don't forget, the car has an open diff, so launching will be that much more difficult.

dont get down on yourself, my first few times at the track were trash. it just takes a little while to get used to.

run the bfg's at between 10 and 12 psi. pull into the burnout box and do a second gear burnout by yankin the ebrake, drop it into 2nd and bring the revs up to like 6k and let the clutch out. i usually let mine hit the limiter around 3 times then i let the brake down and pull up to the line.

for example:

last time at the track i didnt do a burnout and spun 1,2,3 at 7500rpms. i wound up having to shift into 4th going 45mph cus i was on the limiter in 3rd. ran a 14.7 that run. next run i did do a 2nd gear burnout and ran a 12.69 with no changes to my setup between runs.

Whatre you running for a boost controller? If you have anything VSS or gear-dependant, turn the boost down as low as itll go until midway through 2nd gear so you spin less; I cut 2 seconds off my 1/8mile time in one pass doing this(10.8 to 8.8) with NO driving changes.
Why adapt when technology can adapt for you?
And yes, air down your tires...

With slicks you should be able to get into the low 13's. I ran a high 12 with a 105.8mph, but your mph won't be that high once you get your 60' down. Get some slicks for the track.

You also have a Civic. Accords are not near as easy to make fast.

Because of the weight. The trap is already there for him though to have a much better e/t.

reality sets in when you thought your car was a beast on the streets..

I was there back in '99.. I thought my car was a low 15 car, but when i hit the track for the 1st time, i was in the low 16's.. Talk about dissapointing..

Practice practice practice.. BTW, what track did u go to? lapeer or Milan?

well the car is great from a roll.. I never race from a dig on the streets...

I should have defalted the tires a bit... damn I really need a electronic boost controller.... I went to Milan...

I'm not disappointed at my car at all... I've beat plenty of 12 sec cars to know what my car is capable of. I am dissapointed at my performance at the track... I wish I had slicks for next time...

Did you forget that the burnout box was BEFORE the start of the race?
