f20b turbo build.
i am currently doing a f20 boost build. im getting a custom kit made.(turbo mani, welded piping and all the misc. lines and hoses) by dkgoodrich. and i am doing a bizzy. forged bottom end punching over 1mm making it a 86mm so almost a true 2.0L. i do have a couple of questions... im wanting to run stock compression forged pistons.. with lowish boost my compression is 11:1 and i want to run 8-10psi.. will i run in to any problems on what type of fuel im going to have to run? id like to only run race fuel at the track and have a nice weekend car that i could run 93 in.. dose any one think i might have a problem doing so?
i would love some help.. this is the first time that iv really done a build this indepth before.

I thought 84mm was actually 2.0... But anyway your gonna need to sleeve the block running that kind of compression plus boost if you absolutely wanna run an 86mm setup. And your prolly gonna wanna look for e85. Makes more sense to just go with the stock bore and run a lower compression piston and rod kit. Why build an unreliable 300hp setup when u can have one thats more reliable and 400hp...
^ this isn't a b series and I think for ~300hp you should be fine at 11:1 on 93 on a good tune. The high compression ratio will make it a very fun street car. I've always wanted to do a f20b build...
and the f20 is a very strong engine.. stronger then most honda bottom ends i know of people putting ebay kits on theses engines and running 10 psi with no problems. i just want to do a bizzy. bottom end build..go big or go as far as your pockets will take you lol ill try to get pictures when the rods and other junk come in thanks for the input
I made over 400 at the wheels on 93 octane with an 86.5mm bore on stock sleeves with a little more than 10:1 static compression. My tuner explained to me that the larger bore H/F series are less prone to detonation than the smaller bore engines.
You wouldn't have my same torque numbers because of the shorter stroke, but the F20b makes it's power up top so I think you could make 400hp with no problem. There are two things I would advise though.
1. Don't go 1mm over on the stock sleeves. Keep the extra material there for added insurance. You could even go with an 85mm forged piston and bore it just enough to get the right P2W clearance while truing the cylinders up if there's any taper or imperfections.
2. Since 400 is approaching the knock limit of pump gas, I would highly recommend getting the piston crowns ceramic coated by Swain Tech for better detonation resistance. If you want to go all out, you could even get the whole combustion chamber and valve faces coated and get moly coating on the piston skirts for added protection.

Block guards don't do anything for you except prevent cooling unless you're looking to do CCS from CNC Werks they have been proven to work but idk if they do it for the F series. btw what rods work for the f20b I'm thinking that this might be my next swap and build for my CRX.

For what you're getting that seems like a fair price. It doesn't suprise me that no one caries rods for the f20 it's not a very common engine to swap or build. Just out of curiosity what car is this going into? Good luck with the build, post lots of pics!!!
thanks!!! and im using 800 hp spec bisimoto rods. there the only place i found that has them. i called around to see if some one would custom make them if i sent them a stock rod, but that was a no go... there pretty expensive at 850 for all 4..., but i ended getting the rods, pistons, bottom end baring set, also the balance shaft delete kit and, had the piston tops coated in ceramic and the skirts moly coated.. i paid 1750 for every thing, so if you have the pockets to do it do it!!! i haven't heard any thing bad about them sooooooooooo...... ill try to post pics up when every thing get to my house..
