Default A/F ratio during idle

I just wanted to get an idea of where everyone is as far as A/F during idle. Im guessing I should be between 14.7-15.1 right? cause right now im between 15.1-16.5. would this cause my cylinders to heat during idle rather then come back down to normal operating temp?

Personally, I'd get it to idle as lean AND as well as it's capable of. The only thing you'll do by running too lean at idle is stall it. I'd probably leave it right where it is in your case.

You can't over heat anything during idle so dont worry.

I have my idle tuned lean - about 15.5 AFR. If you go too lean the idle will become unstable.

around 15.5:1 your car will start slighty misfiring at idle... at 16:1 it will be poppy and misfiring considerably. at 18:1 it will barely run, if at all.

14.7:1 or slightly richer results in the smoothest idle IMO. You aren't using any fuel at idle anyways, so you're not going to find any fuel economy by tuning for 15.5:1 rather than 14.7:1 at idle ...

ive had my car run at 30:1 idle, and its not pretty by any means let me tell you.

15.5 is ok at idle. my personal idle once warm varies anywhere from 13.9 to 15.5 depending. it does run smoothest at right around 14:1

you need to set the A/F at idle so that you have a nice smooth idle. it will vary from car to car. my car likes 13.7@ idle. if you have you idle too lean at idle you can have off idle problems. meaning its so lean at idle that when you press the gas the car will stumble or bog
