take a good wastegate.

i had a problem,my headgasked blew out.

and the reason was that the wastegate didn't work.and didn'd open.so my engine got a lot of psi's all the time.and finally blew up.

and for the rest i think .go for it.

because i had a cast manifold, better then everything.
turbo....? he did his work.
exhaust was good, only needed to be rewelded.
intake piping was good.
bov did his work.

so if u ask me if ebay sells crap.i think u get what u pay for.

a new turbo from ebay is a $100. so if it dies,no worries.buy another one.

i think u can have fun with ebay stuff.

but whatever u do,get a good tune.

but forget what everybody says.do what you wanna do.

people that can buy greddy or whatever always gonna say that ebay stuff is crapp.

but a lot of people have tried ebay kits and had a lot of fun with it

ive had good success with:

Ebay turbos ( expect slow spool though as the shafts are not balanced )

Ebay Cast turbo manifolds ( never had one crack on me )

Ebay Blow off valve ( greddy replica i used didnt leak a bit! HKS ssqv replica leaked at the adjuster screw, but nothing some thread sealer couldnt take care of! )

Ebay Wastegate ( TiAL style, ive had it for about 2 years now with NO leak or malfunction )

Ebay intercooler piping kit ( pipes are pipes, the ebay pipes are nice and lightweight and thin, just be careful not to clamp down too tight so you dont bend them! )

Ebay intercooler piping couplers ( all the ones i have from ebay are standard multilayer silicone with the threads for reinforcement, never an issue)

Ebay oil line kits ( you just cant screw these up lol... never had a problem with them)

so in conclusion, the only thing i would NOT reccomend using is the Ebay intercoolers. the design on them is TERRIBLE. the cooling fins are gigantic and spaced apart and the rows are large, thick, and just obviously dont have the same type of cooling properties that better name intercoolers do.

but like others have said, id upgrade the wastegate and turbo as soon as possible since a wastegate is essentially a safety item for your engine, and the ebay turbos really hold back the performance of your turbo setup since they are low quality and dont flow well, and spool slow

Honestly, just get a new brand name wastegate, make sure everything appears to be okay, get a good tune by a reputable shop, and watch it like a hawk and you should be okay. Just remember, that ebay turbo will go within 15-20k miles since the shafts aren't balanced, and they basically eat themselves away.

dont buy a whole ebay turbo kit. Piece together your own kit. The kits themselves are not good, they come with the lowest quality parts. You can get Ebay turbos with computer balanced shafts. Mine has a computer balanced shaft, the reason it spools slow because it has a shitty Fluid Bearing instead of a ball bearing. My ebay wastegate came with a huge spring, so I bought smaller one and my tune has a built in failsafe so that I cant overboost. I have a whole Intercooler kit, piping, couplers, clamps, intercooler, BOV. Its all good, none of it has broken or given me any trouble. I'm running 14PSI on the kit. I was at the local track last week and some guy had a SR20 Swap in his 240 running 20PSI. He said the whole kit is basically ebay except for the Intercooler. he said he DD's the car and has been running it at the track for like a year, and he did like 30 passes that night. So the turbo's hold up if u get a decent one. BTW he was making 320RWHP.

You can get great stuff at great prices on ebay if you know how to shop it.

Check the thread I wrote about ebay shopping.

It costs a lot to turbo a car, I would rather spend $1,600 and do it right once than $800 and another $800 fixing all the things that went wrong because you had to have it "cheap"

A friend of mine just laid down 312whp with an ebay turbo kit on a built z6 motor, all he did was replace the manifold and dp with a spoolin performance, used a tial 38mm wastegate and tuned on crome.

linked- that greddy kit will out last the motor. will the ebay kit? **** no it wont, your going to have to replace, turbos, fix bov's wastegates. (which by the way are notorious for messing up and overboosting and killing your motor)
i could care less that your building a ebay kit, is the OP talking about PEICEING it togher?
no he's talking about a hole kit which suck,
yea the greddy kit cost more but with many other things that cost more its better!
noithing on the greddy kit will need to be fixed, the ebay will.

The problem with most generic eBay parts (excludes strut bars and other things that are pretty "fail-proof") is Consistency!

Very important to remember!

Just because many people have no problems with a certain part does not mean you will not! Just because others have had parts fail does not mean you will! There is no quality control, so some individual parts turn out better than another. You cannot count on your part lasting, which is the problem here. You are basically taking a 50/50 chance.

If you like buying $100 lottery tickets then go for it, buy an ebay turbo kit. Just don't come running to me when you don't "win" and you need to rebuild your turbo because you didn't listen to this advice:

Spend the money and expect quality. Go cheap and you have given up your right to have expectations.

Everyone who says that people who talk trash about eBay parts are wrong because theirs works fine is a moron! Everyone who says they're all junk is also a moron.

It is pretty much common knowledge that eBay headlights need to be sealed with silicon (properly!) when you get them. If you do so, you won't have a problem. If you didn't do this, then I blame you for your headlight separating because you didn't research before you bought them.

These are one of the "fail-proof" parts that I speak of.

It almost sounds like someone did it intentionally, like pulled on it to be a dick (which would be easy since it was sticking out).

A guy I know just had his antenna broken because someone thought it would be a fun thing to do to his car.
