Rods like these should NEVER break no matter how high you rev it. To me, if you spend that much on a built engine, don't go cheap and buy eagles. IMO.

I was actually joking because someone told me that's what happened to his rods but I don't really know how his rods broke. In all honesty, any rod will give on you for any number of reasons. You state that rods like Eagles which cost less than $400.00 should never break. Rods in F1 cars cost $10,000.00+ and Top Fuel rods cost $5000.00+ and they they give quite often.
Your humble opinion worries me. How exactly are you justifying your comment? Do you have any experience with Eagle rods? I'd really like to know.

any rod can break if there is some kind of failure in the motor but eagle rods are notorious for breaking rod bolts. they are arp but they are a poor design. they start at the head thick, then the middle is thinner and the threaded part is thick again. they snap!! I even spoke to crower about their econo billet rod and they said they use a bigger bolt and they are ok but they wouldnt trust them for high revving all motor or high hp boost. now thats on their own rods they said that. the cower econoa are eagles rods with bigger bolts. they are just inspected by crower basically. eagle are a step up from stock if that. when you spend 5k+ in your motor why would you skimp on something like a rod to save 300.00??? I wouldnt be able to live with myself if a rod bolt broke and took out the bottom end over 300.00 sorry!!!

I say they're junk. The first and only one set i ever used came straight out of the box and to the machine shop. The wristpins wouldn't fit in the rods. What kind of quality control is that? On top of the cheap quality, the rod bolts are puny. I think a stock honda rod with arp bolts are just as strong as eagles. Just my opinion though, what do i know...

I've got exactly $1500 in my bottom end, including machine work, pistons, rods, and bearings. That's about the buildup most of us have here. The Eagle rods I have now will be the only thing that I'll be using again in my new sleeved setup.
If you go further than that with sleeves, and a much higher buildup, then buy what YOU think will hold up to the power. I've seen 1500 hp Chevy and Ford engines with Eagles. If this is because of the rod bolt design, you can pay the extra money to have the larger bolts put in. That is still MUCH less that the price difference of Eagles and Crower's race rods.
Also, you blame the bolts so much. Are they torqued down properly with the installation lube specified by ARP? 28 Ft Lbs is IT. If you go over that, the rod bolts WILL stretch and weaken SEVERELY. I call installer error on 50% of Eagle rod failures, 25% due to misshift/overrev, 20% due to detonation, and 5% due to too much power out of the big boys out there that use them correctly to their true breaking point.
Point is, if YOU think they're crap. Fine. Don't buy them. There are 1000's of racers out there that will swear they have held up to everything they could throw at them without issue.

Everyone has their opinions. We have hundreds of happy customers with Eagle rods and not one complaint. Like Jody pointed out, to each his own.
I have great luck with the eagles in 3 of my motors so far and they will be going into my sleeved block again this week, shooting for 500-525whp.
