Default Dump Tube Temps

What temperature would an open dump tube reach during normal daily driving with boost on occasion? I painted mine with standard spray paint without thinking and am curious if I'm going to be smelling that stuff burning off.

If you do a lot of boosting, it's going to melt. If you don't, it'll probably be fine.

Well the wastegate will only be open at full boost, so yes if you don't hit boost at all it will be fine. But, whats the point of having a boosted car then?

The paint will melt right off, give it a couple of days and it won't be there anymore. Just go out and buy some high-temp paint and re-coat it or just wrap it with header wrap

Take a propane torch to the paint, 4" away and hold it for 3 seconds, take away for 1 second, hold for 4 seconds, take away for 1 second, hold for 5-6 seconds...and you just gave it a 3-gear pull test. EGT's through the dump are ALWAYS going to be over 1200-1300F, and most ceramic walmart-style grill paint is barely rated for 1300F. Regular paint will fry much quicker.

I did the torch test but instead held the flame no the paint and did this for about 2 min so the entire pipe was warm. The paint didn't even smoke, so I'm just going to run it.
