Default Dump tube in the exhaust

My uncle gets annoyed with that dump tube sound so his plan is to put the tube directly into the exhaust to quiet the sound... Does anyone else do this? Is that a good idea?

I'm recirculating my dump tube to the exhaust for my turbo setup. Might cause a little loss in hp, but other than that you'll be fine.

I did it, and didn't really notice any difference in power vs. having it dump just below the oil pan. I think it's a great thing to do, when you have it dumped it just sounds like your car has a massive exhaust leak.

What exactly is needed to route the dump tube into the exhaust, a cutout?

Where would be the best placement on the exhaust piping, (in what area, position) would be the best?

I have heard it's best to go 12-18" away from the turbine for maximum power. Mine was placed only about 4-6" away for fitment reasons.

The closer it is to the turbine, the more backpressure it could cause.

I don't see how the exhaust gas would affect the alternator in anyway.

Here's one I built. 1.5" dump into a 3" DP. worked great.

nice! yes most say it should be 12"-18" away from the turbine discharge. it deffinetly sounds better too, you can hear the turbo insted of the exaust. also, the above pics show a very nice and proper 45 degree intersection of the two pipes. this will help in the merging of the two. for more info read the manifold section in corky bell's "turbocharged!" book.

I've had mine tied to my downpipe, right after the turbine discharge for almost 4 years, the car makes great power (see numbers in my sig), no issues what so ever.

btw, I know my setup isn't ideal, it should be merged in down further, but oh well, it was my first downpipe..the next will be improved.

My 46mm 2" dump into modified Full-Race 3" dp. I couldn't take the noise anymore either and finally whipped this up. Will never go back, it's much nicer quiet.

The dyno you most likely saw was the f-max one. They reroute it back in at the worst place possible.

I'd like to know the same. I personally like it all the ways. My car currently is open downpipe and open dumptube. I have had it open dumptube and thats cool too.

Yes, but the turbulence causes the backpressure.

Hey, where can i get a dumptube? A flange and that pipe to go down underneath the car? I really dont want to hear that nasty sound of the wastegate but all well, I dont wanna go through the hassle of tying it into the dp. Not yet at least.
