Just wondering..

wouldnt a small turbo(example Garret T25) make the same power as a big turbo(lets say T4) at the same psi?

I know they are different sized turbos, but they're both pushing 8 lbs of boost(or however much psi) into your block.

the answer is no. the bigger turbo pushes more cfm than the smaller turbo. therefore it produces more hp. a t25 reaches is maximum efficiency at a lower boost level than a t4 also.

 

i don't understand either really.. 8 psi is 8 psi.. from a small or large turbo... do larger turbos just push the 8 psi in faster??

 

Because smaller turbo's can't flow as much air, they end up heating up the 8psi they push more then larger turbo's at the same pressure, therefore making the air charge less dense, and therefore giving you less power

 

the larger turbo flows more volume of air.

 

k think of it as this analogy ... k pretend your pissing through a straw ..( the **** being the air forced into engine).. k now since your pushing 8psi it will come out fast but a little will only come out.. k now pretend your pissing through a 4"PVC PIPE. with the same 8psi. it stil comes out fast but at more volume so you get more air into the engine.

but with that analogy, it seems like you are focusing on the means the **** is traveling (straw or pipe), which would be the size of the charge pipes in a turbo system.
