downpipe steel braided flex
when I was having my down pipe fabricated, I also has a steel braided flex pipe welded into place. I recently, had to change an o2 sensor, and whie under my car I noticed that there is a small section of flex pipe that is damaged from scraping speedbumps and what not (I have 3" stainless DP & 3" stainless exhaust) my question is will this create an exhaust leak? what exactly is the flex pipe made up of? how does it work.
well inside of is felxible tubing that has ripples in it so it cam move. then the outside is braided steel to protects it. it obviously allows your dp/exhuast sytem to have some flex so the vibrations dont damage anything. no real way to tell if its gunna leak without being under the car. just tell some1 tou rev your car and stick your hand in the general vicinity of it and if its leaking, you will feel it. becare ful though, it will be hott
