It seems like he fell off the face of the earth? He used to have that 9 sec Castrol Civic. Does he have another shop?

 

I sure haven't seen him in a long time.

I remember he was here in Texas once a long time ago and I helped him change a head gasket on his old white car... ha.. I was standing around and he told me to grab a wrench! Well.. more or less.

You are in the area... Did you know Ron Adams? He was one of my mentors back in the day. He hung around John Brown and Turismo.

 

I don't really know Ron but I seen him around a few times. Last time I saw him, he just had his motor built by John Brown. That was about a couple of years ago, do you know if he still have his car?

Is that where John is working? Is he working of a new or a different project? I thought that Doug Foss worked at Brahman Honda, I spoke to him before, he is a total ***!!

 

Well basically he is conducting his work out of Rick Case. Naw man Doug Foss is service manager now at Rick Case, I could easily have compared FAT BASTARDS FLOATER to what was coming out of his mouth. According to Doug John uses the dealer as his garage so to say..

Actually I prefer talking to Doug then John Brown. I've had experience with the two and I heard plently more BS from John. Although both tell their fair share. John Brown charges a lot of money for ok work and on top of that takes very very long to get done! I watched him "tune" a customers car running it down the road a few times w/ a fields vtec controller!! Didnt even mess witht he fuel pressure on a car w/ a brand new setup. I personally dont care too much for the guy and dont trust him much either. But thats just what I've experienced and my opinions others may have had better luck. And yes, he does work for/with/at (whatever you want to call it) Rick Case Acura in Florida.

i would just like to say that i just had a motor built from john brown. i was charged a very very reasonable price when compared to other shops, and the previous motor i've seen from him went 9's and is still going 9's and has had NO PROBLEMS WHAT SO EVER....KNOCK ON WOOD.

 

there are a lot of justified horror stories floating around about JB. They've haunted him from before I can remember, and touched as close as my own neighbor (you might know him as onefastb18c here on HT). In my experience, JB is more concerned with making a buck than doing the job right, and I'd sure as hell trust a lot of people WAY ahead of him. He takes forever, and has burned a WHOLE HELLUVA lot of bridges along the way. Ask Brahman, Castrol, for instance. In the end, they found out he was a great talker, but horrible at backing it up.

 

He's a *****. I known the guys for years and seen some things thought I could trust him to do my work.He's got more bad stories than I could list here. He's a fucken *****..Only cares about making the money. Could personally care less if your car runs right or not. He'll make ya tons of promises and then comes up with excuses..You should have seen that guy was calling me all the time before I let him rebuild my motor then when he got my money the guy never returned my calls. I was two steps from calling Honda of Japan for customer service.

I got Doug Foss fired from Braman cause he wasn't returning my calls cause my motor was all phucked up. Eventually they let Jon go too. They ended up shutting down the whole performance division due to his **** ups.

If we all tell everybody not to deal with him hopefully he'll fall of the face of the earth. I could care less for the bastard.

I've never had any problems with John, I seen him built and tune many car and never had any problems including mine. All the cars that I seen him built or tune always ran fast as hell.

Sorry you guys had problems with him, I guess it's like a crap shoot you never know what you're going to get.

So does anyone know what happen to the Castol Civic? Is he building another project?

 

From what a couple of friends told me Castrol cancelled there sponsorship because he couldn't come through with there expectations and his empty promises of making that car run on the top of the list didn't happen so they basically said peace out.

 

yeap, he got about 250k in sponsorship dollars, half of which went to a fully outfitted semi rig. The rest went into the car, and despite Rosado's excellent craftsmanship on the chassis, JB couldn't build a motor that could outrun guys running of a budget that was less than half of his.

 

I recently contacted John to advise me on my project. I am trying to build up my brand new Isuzu Trooper. He has expressed great enthusiasm with getting my large SUV to chase down these super fast rice burners and crush 'em with its massive 16" high profile tires.

No offense but so would most other people if they need the $$$ .Only a very few tuners and shops out there that believe honesty is a good policy. Many just feed you alot of **** they read out of a magazine and hope you take the bait.

Viet Lam was/or in jail. I just saw tony fuchs in San antonio and he was racing a civic coupe that made some good runs. David sho or what ever his name was with the silver bullet has been gone for a while. I havent seen him in over 2yrs. Im sure he is still around tho.
