Default Dart Blocks....?

Okay, I messed up my GSR block pretty good - Not going to sleeve this block. and I cant seem to find a legit GSR block for under like 500$ or so. With Benson sleeves being about 1000$, plus having to ship it out. and wait. I am almost at the $1900 shipped price for a Dart block. I have a good GSR crank.

I know a while back people had some problems with these blocks, but I thought they did a re design of the block to correct some problems? I e-mailed dart and they said nothing needs to be done to the block except finish hone it (I got a hone and Torque plate it to seat the sleeves) Why do I need to seat the sleeves though?

Anyone have any big problems with these things? or problems at all? would you buy another one?

I believe Earl mentioned just going through and double checking to make sure there were no metal shavings and deburring a little bit to clean things up, but other than that they're good to go. Theres a user Pandahatch that runs one, PM him about it.

Dart seems to have improved on their finishing touches on their blocks... I followed Earl's notes regarding the prep work involved, but I noticed that most of the things Earl mentioned were no longer necessary.

I am running a 81.5mm stock deck Dart block... It was purchased around August of last year.

I believe they are illegal for pro classes only. Sportsman classes like SFWD they are ok to run.

Plus they have some features that a sleeved block simply won't have like slightly larger passages for fluids, and I believe the caps are a litte bigger on the crank? Or maybe a harder metal for the caps?

Not to rain on anyones parade, but the dart blocks have been known for the sleeves to "settle" and drop down 1-2 mm causing major head gasket leaks. Not sure if this has been fixed with the newer blocks. but I know a few that had this happen in the older ones. I am not saying all dart blocks do this, but there are a few.

yea buy that OEM GSR block.

I found one for $100.

Worse case is you could buy an LS block and the Eagle LS-vtak conversion kit and run that, much cheaper.
