Default D16Z6 potential

Hello all and let me say I am proud to be part of this forum. I have read many great topics here and I am interested in hearing what all of you have to say. I have no problem admitting I an definitely a "newbie" to the area of engine modifications. That said, I own a 94 Civic Si with about 150000kms (93000miles) and I am interested in getting some more power. I know most would say to swap the engine out but I am interested in keeping my D16Z6 (as it is still quite young for a Honda motor) and adding a turbo or supercharger. So the age old question...turbo or supercharger? I currently have an Iceman cold air intake and a APEXi cat-back exhaust. The car is quite zippy but again, I am after some more power. Any suggestions?

I wouldn't suggest swapping.

Turbo is the way to go. There are quite a few on this board who have made 200whp+ with a stock Z6 block.

Thanks for the quick response Ryan. Any particular reason for a turbo over a supercharger. Any particular turbo you would recommend?

the best bang for the buck is probably a t3 60 trim or super 60. both turbos are capable of close to 300 whp. many people have good success with those turbos on sohc vtec motors

In general, most people who have had both are happier with a turbo.

There is a thread in here with someone that has a single cam breaking 400 whp.

I am running a t3 (40 or 50 trim, not entirely sure) and should break 300whp, in the next few weeks or so, on pump gas. Water injection is the ****

I say get a turbo. My little 1.5 beats up on GSR swaps on a regular basis.
