Default compressor surge?

Anyone have first hand experience with compressor surge? What kind of running conditions does it cause? Can it be seen from a data log? Does tuning have any effect?

compressor surge is when your turbo is spooling, and the throttle plate is snapped shut. the resulting pressure, and volume of air in the charge piping and intercooler, cause the turbo to stop abruptly. there is no way in tuning that i know of to stop it. thats why we use blow off valves. never had one on my t type and always had my charge piping fly off goin through the traps at cecil.

No, im talking about what happens during the conditions around the surge line on a compressor map. Unstable flow/reverse flow.
