Default clutch chatter 6puck

hey everyone i recently installed a 6puck spring clutch in my car with pressure plate, d16y7 sohc stock tranny.

anyways the clutch chatters really bad that it felt like an engine mount was disconncted, i recently installed all the the ES inserts in aaddition to my drivers side HCP replacement mount (urethane) that i had on beforehand from jdm ****, it made it less severe, and as the clutch got more mileage it seems to have gotten better.

anybody have any tips to keep the chatter down when driving.

does it chatter just at takeoff?

chatter is very normal for 6 pucks, its something that you cant help and you just have to live with.
i happen to enjoy clutch chatter as it reassures me that im getting 0 power loss once that clutch is fully engaged.

first time in a car with clutch chatter i felt giddy like a schoolgirl.

With time you'll learn how to take off to keep the chatter to a minimum. I find that after 5k miles the chatter isn't as bad as when it's new.

as it gets older it doesnt get so bad. Mine has maybe 3k miles on it and it doesnt even chatter anymore. But even when it was new it didnt chatter as much. Every single car that i've owned since i was 16 had a 6puck in it lol. 5 cars yO! so i guess i know how to drive it without making it chatter.

to make it so it doesnt chatter for you guys, do you have to rev it up a little bit more than usuall? I find that my competition clutch has quite a bit of chatter, but if i rev it up to around 2k-2.5k and slip it out, its ok. Is this gonna dramatically decrease the life of the clutch? or is this what most people do anyways?

ACT 6-puck here and I have the same issue. If someone tried to drive my car and didn't know how to drive a 6-puck they would probably staul it. I have to often rev it to 3k and let it out slow to keep it from shaking the whole damn car to death. Have about 1k miles on it now. Once you are out of 1st the only other time u notice the clutch is downshifting. You still have to make sure the rev's are up or it will be a little jerky when going into the lower gear.

AI4-XTR6 cost me $350, couldn't beat the price for a clutch that could hold 400lbs/tq. Felt the best when launching at 7500rpm on slicks, but I definantly want to get something a little more street friendly in the future.

so is this normal with puck clutchs? or is this just a bad set of them? Im with spooled, I really have to rev it out of 1st to not get it to feel like door panels are going to fall off. Maybe I should have just got a carbon carbon twin lol

I find that you can inch the car forward with no chatter if you have the rpms up. You can ride it out, but what I find is that around 5 mph is when the chatter comes in. If you are under 5 mph it'll be pretty smooth, but trying to ride the clutch at 5 mph+ is when the chatter comes in. Ride it out to 3mph or so and then just let it out all the way. That's what I find anyway.

I have the same thing, except starting in 1st is annoying...but trying to get from 1st-2nd smooth is really hard. Granted my clutch has less than 1k on it, i still tend to accidently drag the clutch from 1st-2nd, or let it go too quick and it bucks.

you must have a non spring 6 puck
i have a action 2ms. duel diaphram pressure plate with a spring 6 puck and it barely even chaters. i can drive it almost like stock. my friend for the action 2md non spring and it chatters like crazy. hes has to rev to like 3k in 1st or it will stall and the car shakes very violent when it chatters in 1st gear.
i really think you should get a spring dick for street driving

i have a clutch specialties unsprung 6 puck and it doesnt chatter I think its more of how you drive it. I can't stand driving a car with a stock clutch it feels weird.
