Cleaning Block/Head Deck of Headgasket.... HOW
I thought this **** would come off easy breezy. Block was hot tanked and its basically all still there, so just now I tried grabbing a razor scrapper and they just sucks *****, very slow and doesnt take out any material and always catches on the aluminum
What methods are there to get off these gaskets
I figured the F/I forum would be a good place to ask since everyone seems to be popping gaskets lol
Any solvents or anything that would help...

Head gasket on the deck??
Take some very very fine grit sand paper and go to work. You don't have to go crazy, just till you get the material off. Should only take a couple minutes

This is my buddies block after I got done sanding it... not 300 grit... I forgot what I used, just nothing that would score the surface of the deck. And yes it had left over black **** caked on the deck.
It was 1000 grit.... just asked my buddy. takes some time to get it all off... but you don't have to go crazy.

i would at leat use it with a sanding block. the last thing you want are low spots.

when i shop machines a block and hot tanks it, that **** comes off
and they should have checked the block for the surface to be all level and straight
they should had cleaned that.
i say take it back to them and have them clean it
i wouldnt sand it and have low spots and nasty groves on it
honestly , the chances of messing something up are good, if u are looking on hondatech an answer of how to take that stuff off...
just like they did to my block and as u can see it was machined

I just scraped mine very gently with a razor blade. It was cold out, and it took forever, but I figured it was better than having to pull the head again.
i use one of those scrubbing things that attach to a drill that you can find in the paint section at autozone...not sure what its called...done a few heads and blocks with it without any problems at all...on the tougher spots i scratch it up a little with a scraper and then use the drill thingy on it...i even stay at some spots for much longer than other spots and it didnt seem to affect a thing...it really cleans off the block real good you can see all the imperfections afterwards...
