Default Buildup decisions... Need guidance

I recently picked up a D16z6 from a friend (for FREE), but it is in *desperate* need of a complete rebuild. I want to have this ready for turbo and install in my hatch, by this winter. I need some guidance on selection of parts, and possible buildup techniques as this is my first engine build. I want to take my time and do this right the first time. Here's what i have planned so far, and you all are more than welcome to help with comments or suggestions:

Stuff I already have:
-D16z6 Block(needs cleanup BAD!!)

-D16z6 Head(also needs cleanup)

-D16z6 Intake Manifold(needs cleanup)

-Suzuki Vitara Pistons (claimed 8.5:1 comp on D16) Thanks fjt

-Hastings Rings Thanks fjt

-Stock CX exhaust manifold
-CX trans,clutch,flywheel,etc...

Stuff I know I need/want:
-D16y8 Head Gasket
-LS Rods (block notched for clearance)
-Knife-edged crank
-Adaptor for CX manifold-to-turbo
-JRC.com 6" Intercooler
-custom charge, IC piping/exhaust
-BOV
-turbo timer

Ok, i know thats not a lot, but its what i got in mind right now. I need help with suggestions on some stuff like turbo choice, ECU, fuel management, and any other things im overlooking that i will need for the actual buildup of the engine.

Like i said, i want to do this right and take my time and learn, so i want to do the engine buildup first, before i buy any turbo parts. So if you have any comments or suggestions that you feel will help me out, feel free to let me know.

Thanks for the space guys.

Also interested in the vitara pistons. Was thinking about running these in my spare z6 block.

I would really look into getting another head. That one is so rusted on the inside that it will be ALOT of work cleaning up all the valves and whatnot. I think you would be better off picking up a used for for like $50. A lot less hassle. You should be good with the block though because you just bore it and it'll clean right up.
