I am in the process of purchasing myself a B18b. This motor is going into my 95 dx coupe, which i am expecting low 13's to mid 12's (street, strip respectively).
I just want to know if I shot peen the rods, block gaurd it, and put in total seal gapless rings, along with new crank bearings will this motor sustain 250 at the wheels? And by the way is 250WHP enough for these expected times in a non-gutted dx coupe?
Any other insight would be greatly apprectiated, I want to do things right but not spend all of my money in the process.

I would say for your goal money could be better spent on a good engine management system and fuel set up rather then re-building the motor. unless of course it has to be rebuilt. stock LS motor can do 250whp fine. with proper maintance and tuning, a well taken care of stock LS motor can do 300whp.

thanks for the reply's everyone. I was gonna run the hondata system with a drag kit stage 3.
Does anyone have the drag 3 kit???
And i am expecting to have to boost around 12 psi to get 250 hp, is this a good estimate?

you would probably make 250hp with less hp dont need all 12 psi with hondata.. hondata tuned i think chris direp972 put some awesome numbers up with 9psi ... it think his dyno sheet is floating aorund here

I would strongly recommend the rev hard kit over the drag for the power you're looking to make...

u don't even have to build it to make 250whp
just run a thicker headgasket and arp studs to up the boost
BUT make sure u have it tuned right on a dyno with wideband and u should be fine

So with 2psi more it makes 45 more HP. Is that dramatic? Seems about equal to me. Depends on price though I guess. I'm positive the Rev-Hard would rule with even higher boost settings though
250whp out of an LS is totally possible. Invest in some good engine management is a must. Here's my LS motor at 12psi w/ a 60-1.

well put it like this, at 10psi my set up made 250whp and at 8psi it made 225whp. w/ the hondata tune. on the fmu and running stock timing it made 230whp at 8psi. No way he would have made 55 whp with 2 lbs of boost.

those are some nice numbers that both ls motors are putting down but i was wondering how is it that the other ls motor has a t3 60-1 and its putting down 277 and direp is putting down three less hp with the same amount of boost. also with either setup on slick what do yall think they could run.

Manifolds make a big difference along with many other factors. I am not so sure that the 60-1 really makes alot more power then a 57 trim t04e at low boost on an LS motor. but if its any consilation, boostaholic made his power at .8 bar(11.8psi) and i made mine at .85bar(12.5psi) he still made more on less boost. but there are also lots of other factors that can give or take 10hp. manifold, exhaust, intercooler. tuning, weather. plenty of thingsthose are some nice numbers that both ls motors are putting down but i was wondering how is it that the other ls motor has a t3 60-1 and its putting down 277 and direp is putting down three less hp with the same amount of boost. also with either setup on slick what do yall think they could run.

I know what you're saying about the manifold's, but otherwise are they identical set-ups? I'm just looking for a good reasoning beside's the manifold. Rev-Hard all the way, Baby!

Project lowbudget used a fairly small turbo t3/t04b. Plus PLB had a 11.0:1 a/f ratio to keep it safe. Which also hinders the HP #'s .
That's why he had to run 20psi to make 293whp.
The manifold and other factors might of had something to do with it. . . .

You have to remember he had a 35 shot of Nitrous when he ran that. Plus the car weighs 2450lbs with driver/cage.he ran a 12.1 on drag radials the bfg.

i didn't know they did a 12.1 on radials. thats really good. that car has about 400 pounds on me and about 20 more hp. I really like that set up though, it was a budget build for them but prolly will cost a bit more for the avg person. hes making more power cause hes running 20psi of boost, as simple as that. my set up is more efficient, but it wasnt a budget build up. they have plans to add larger injectors and a bigger turbo in the future im sure that he will really push the limits of the LS motor at that point.
