Default Building a daily driven B18C turbo

Hi guys, I wanna build a B18C turbo, the fuel here is 97 octane just incase it's relevant.

I wouldn't decide on the turbocharger first, as I have no idea which would be the best, but nevertheless I will include some mods that will definately be installed.

JDM B18C
Toyota pistons (I'm not sure about the C:R, but it'll allow a B16A to hit 350hp atw safely, but I'm not going past 300hp atw mark, so it'll do fine)
Port and Polish (should I? will there be massive differences? it's already quite well done by honda anyway, if it's effects are minimum, then I'll skip it)
HKS SQV BOV
all necessary pipings, hoses, clamps
Haltech (I'm going to control boost for each gear, ie: 0.4bar for 1st, 0.7bar for 2nd, 1.0bar for 3rd, 1.2bar for 4th and 1.4bar for 5th. it's only an example, the real figures will be decided when the turbocharger is decided with)
440cc VR3(4G63) injectors/mercedes fuel pump(mighty stuff)
adjustable cam gears

Ok, here are the rest of the parts that I need help with.

-Gearbox, I hear that a B18A gearbox is good for turbo drag hondas, how true is that, are there better options?

-LSD, will a stock JDM honda LSD be enough?

-Clutch, I'll aiming to hit below 300hp at the wheels, so a clutch that supports 400hp should be enough? I know there are single plate, twin plate, and three pucks etc, it's confusing, I want driveability, which would you recommend, the brands available to me are cusco, exedy and os giken.

When I custom make an intercooler, how do I specify it? do I tell them to make one that supports 400hp? 350hp? I'm customizing because I can't get one that fits the EG bumper 'perfectly', where I am, there are hardly any civic turbo's, so I HAVE to customize one. don't ask me to order etc, just help me out in specifying the correct parameters for making a intercooler that fits a EG bumper perfectly.

So that basicly leaves the turbocharger. I'm aiming for anywhere between 240-300hp at the wheels. never crossing the 300hp mark. So which T3/T4 combo would be best? ie: trim sizes, A/R sizes, etc... I'm asking because I know there are many sizes for each T3 turbine and T04 compressors, but I do not know which will satisfy the 240-300hp mark MOST EFFICIENTLY. ie: best sizes. also, I leave the boost buildup and full boost rpms for you guys to decide, for example it spools at 2800rpm and hits full boost at 3500rpm, I know how and when it hits full boost will effect the traction, too early and you have a lot of wheelspin or you won't have top end power. stuff like that, if you guys know the best combo, please share and advice, thanks.

Just make it clear, I want to build a daily driven, 240-300hp at the wheel B18C used for street drags. By the way, with 240-300hp, what kind of 1/4 times will I see?

Ok, thanks for the help in advance. Another turbo victim

I started reading ur post but I had to stop because it was so damn long and boring....

get a gsr motor
inline head gasket
ls tranny and quaiff
a fuel tuning device
a fuel pump
large injectors
and tune the **** out of it
use stock internals

also I would recomend a diper because ur gonna **** ur pants when its done

If you are building an all out daily driven car capable of 300 hp with quick spool up time and response; this is what I would do! There can be different variations though!

Manifold : Drag or RevHard
Turbo : HKS GT3037
Injectors : RC 440cc - 550cc (Since you will have Haltech)
IC : Spearco Core # 2-178 (20"x7.8"x3.5")
Wastegate : Tial 35mm
BOV : Any
Tranny: LS Tranny w/ Type R LSD
ACT 6 Puck w/ HD P/PL
Fuel Pump : Walbro Intank 255 lph

This setup willbe able to support 350-400 hp all day long. The HKS GT3037 is a ball bearing turbo that will have very quick spool up and response in all gears. The Spearco IC I chose can support up to 500 hp (760 cfm). The 550cc injectors will be sufficient for 400-425 hp. Tial makes one of the best wastegates on the market. The LS tranny has higher gear ratios that are great for turbocharged vehicles' top end! The ACt 6 puck disc with HD P/PL can support 400-425 whp all day long; although this might not be the best on the street because of the chatter, so you may consider the ACT Street Disc w/ copper linings. I have seen this setup handle 409 whp. The Walbro 255 lph pump can handle up to 500 hp!

Like I said you could also go with a differnet turbo! (T3/T04E- Stage III Turbine w/ .63 Exhaust Housing, Ball Bearing Center Section, 50 Trim Compressor w/ .50 AR)

I hope this helps!
