What do you guys do with blown blocks? I know I can just throw them away, but is there a way I can get any money for it?

Maybe someone can use it for scraps or melt it down and make some money?

By saying, blown, I'm referring to unuseable blocks... for example, a rod flying through.

 

maybe fabricators, they can use them for mockups.

 

How do I find recycling centers in my area... I'm a horrible person, I never recycle anything... but I'm about to start.

 

maybe a phone book?!

you should be able to get about 40 cents per lb. at a metal recycling place.

 

i trash them. went thru 3 last season. all in the garbage...lol! now im finally doing it the right way!!!!

I paid $50 for one once to use as a mockup for some custom brackets. You just need to find another idiot like me to give you $50 for it.

i take mine to scrap yards and usually get $40 a piece for a bare block with crank.

We're all broke now, but we do have a crapload of bad Honda blocks!

 

i got one from my buddy, rod blew right through the front of the block. he had it cleaned, and painted. i put my head studs back in it with little rubber feat on the top of them, got a small plece of glass and now it sits next to my couch and holds a few pictures and my cell phone charger. its a really cool conversation piece!

oh, then i cleaned up an old HAMP oil filter i had lying around and screwed that onto it.....im so JDM.

 

That does sound really cool, and I would like to make one...

BUT, I want to make some money off this block, not spend more... especially since I need to get another motor running in my car.

Take it to a local shop and see how much they will give you for it. Scrap guys come to my shop all the time looking for old blocks, heads and Cat convertors...

I was just at a machine shop today... I should have asked them about it... I'm sure they have junk left over all the time. Great idea thanks!
