Blow Off Valve Question

Will a blow off Valve make a differnce in Horse power. Sorry for the noob question. But just wanna make sure before i go and get one. I have one now, but its a knock off hks ssq

a blow off valve is made to save the life of your turbo from compressor surge. you can actually lose horsepower if you were to have the bov set too loose and boost leak.

By doing this it keeps the turbine spinning so when you open the throttle again your still in boost.
