Default big turbo options

i see people using gt42r's and stuff on their drag cars because of course it wouldnt be that fun of a turbo on the street. i was reading that it has a 74mm inducer. what about the pt74 from precision, i havnt read much about it, just comparing different turbo with similar inducer sizes.

Well precision and Garrett are like the same company, but with the same inducer u would then want to start comparing the A/R sizes of the compression housing. the exducer and trim sizes to determine what would work best for ur set-up

And you must describe what you're using this potential for. Some turbos aren't made for everything.

Garrett/Honeywell will strongly disagree with this statement..Please be careful

42r is gonna be much more responsive than any journal bearing turbo of similar size..

This may be the case, but if it becomes damaged in any way, (which MOST strictly drag cars do eventually, since most teams have the budget to account for such catastrophies) This cannot be rebuilt. I've never really recommended BB units for strictly drag cars because of this reason. The other reason is that I notice that with MOST fully drag-prepped setups, a 2-step, initial nitrous, or other pre-load device is used to where "quick spool" isn't (nor shouldn't be) a concern for the serious drag racer. Since most of these semi-pro racers have considered this contingency, I would say use the turbo that would be of most top end benefit for the PURPOSE that you need, and go with the turbo that would be safe for those contingencies..

You should look at http://www.innovativeturbo.com...Id=25. They have nice turbos built to your needs at an alright price. I run a custom GTS70 FM BILLET which is the same as a GT42R but with out the price. And innovative's BB turbos can be rebuilt. You can also upgrade the turbo later if you need more power with out spending an arm and a leg.

ive got it narrowed down to the gt42 non bb and the turbonetics t72. only reason i lean towards the t72 is because it has a smaller a/r option on the exhaust. the smallest on the gt42 is the 1.01, ugh i cant decide. 750ish hp would be the semi goal.

i want the gt42 cause its just a bad ************ but i dont know how its going to respond. im only revving to 9000.

What you need to keep in mind is how that turbo is going to work with your set up. I know that the GT42r is a bad mother, but if it doesn't do what you want when you want then it's a waest. I know some guys who went down from a GT42 to a GT4088. So you need to call turbonetics or Garrett and tell them your set up so they can help you with the right turbo. Don't just jump on the band wagon unless you have money to spend when it doesn't do what you need it to do. Good luck.

Ever think about running a holset? Cheaper that's for sure, and they make pretty good power. Just a thought.

It's a 1000 WHP capable turbo, you're overshooting your power goals by a good amount.

I would run a PT67-GTQ DBB .81 A/R or a GT4088R .95 A/R from full race for 750 WHP. No need for a 74+ inducer when you're "only" talking about 700-750 WHP.

i'm looking into having an hx60 hybrid made, with an hx40 or 35 turbine side"

"Try bladetwister on ebay, send him a message, he's the one who quoted me $500 for a hx35/40 hybrid. He said he could do that (the hx35/40) in the dark with his good eye closed. So an hx60/40 or 60/35 would prolly be no problem to him."

Check out the "Holset users unite" thread there's a lot of info that may make you reconsider and try out a holset, I got the above post from p.16 on the thread, and like drumking15 said guys are throwin huge compressor wheels into small housings. Fast spool...big power.

umm you do know the gt4294 has a 70mm inducer dont you??

im prolly gonna go with the t4/t70 from turbonetics, it supports 850, that gives me room to grow.

I didn't catch that you were talking about the 4294, but that turbo will still support over 1000 horsepower. I've seen just under 1000 to the wheels on a 4294 with a T6 exhaust housing on a Camaro, so I'd guess that with a T4 housing but a drivetrain that sucks less power on our Hondas that the power potential would be similar.

I really don't see why you feel the need for anything more than a T67. You'd likely run better track times with the 67, it'll make enough power to put your car deep 9's if you can drive it, and will make the car more fun to drive on the street. A T70 P-trim is old technology, newer more efficient stuff will spool quicker, and give you a more broad powerband with more average power, which makes for a faster car even if you make less peak power.

id buy a ball bearing 62-1 if i knew it could support 700-750hp. that thing is nice. its only a 62mm though.

how does the technology differ in a brand new t70 from turbonetics over a brand new t67? they have the same 360degree bearings and ****?

this car will only be driven on the streets maybe on the weekends. quick spool for street fun is irrelevant

IMO quick spool suck ***** for any street machines over 400whp... I like BIG BIG turbos for street The super lag gives you just enough power and traction to get a nasty jump and when full boost comes--- bye bye
