best bov for the money?
i have a turbo si and i need a blow off valve. i would eventually like to be boosting around a bar (14.7) psi so if you guys could suggest what the best one for the money is in your opinion i would really appreciate it.
Used 1g dsm BOV. They can be found for relatively cheap (30-50 dollars), and can definitely hold 14.7 psi. Plus they sound pretty good too.
Heres a good site http://www.dsmtrader.com/ I would also try junkyards.

Don't go cheap on that high compression motor man, especially with that boost goal.
You might be able to get away with a cheapy BOV, but don't let it be a trend...

As long as you go with a know and reputable brand, you will be ok. The main different between bov is the sound. The 1G dsm is a very nice piece. Most dsm runs up to 20-22 lbs on them.
I bought one of these no-name ebay ones when I was getting my parts together last year, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...18863 -- No regrets. Sounds fine, adjustable, works like it should. It doesn't leak one bit.
cheap = good when it works~!

well i've seen them run on high boost apps. i think it's not only the boost amount running... but the air flow ie turbo size. like t-25 @ 10psi is nothing like a 60-1 @ 10psi. get what i'm saying?

Why is a 1g dsm bov the cheap way out? He's not talking that much boost, I personally know of guys who run 22 psi w/no problems. How is it the cheap way out? What would buying an aftermarket bov really gain him besides a different sound? So you are saying because the dsm bov is much cheaper it's the cheap way out. You do not have to go out and buy a 200 dollar bov when a 50 dollar piece will do the same job, unless you really like shiny things, in that case be my guest. But that is just my opinion.

A DSM BOV is not the cheap way out, many people use them on 11 second cars running over 25 psi of boost.
A GOOD aftermarket BOV is also a good choice, but they're aren't a lot of those, and that aren't NECESSARY.

pacific performance uses a greddy type s on their 9sec. drag civic. Good enough for them, good enough for me, hehe.

For the "whushhh" kinda sound = 1G dsm
For a whistle kinda sound get the adjustable volvo BOV
Both work fine, unless your one of those "bling bling" kina ballaz.
$220 or what ever BOV fits in your tool box...
