Default Ati damper removal?

Just want to get a heads up for when ever I need to pull it off. When using a pulley removal tool, do you guys like to take the balancer off the ATI hub before removal with tool, or is it ok to pull the damper with it still assembled?

I've only seen both units taken off at the same time. No need to remove it from the hub beforehand
