People paint it all the time...just don't coat it on too thick.

 

I believe drboosted on this board painted his intercooler. Just contact him.

 

I've seen some special "radiator paint" for sale online. I'm not sure if it lets heat through any better than regular paint. Mebbe it does tho, might want to try some.

What if you powder coated the intercooler? is that a good or bad idea? I would love a black powder coated IC

that's not a bad idea, i wonder if that could be done.

 

you can paint the intercooler but mask off the fins when you do. thats what im gonna do. my starion IC looks pretty damn ugly now after modifying it.

 

or you can just add a mesh grille painted or not on the bumper you currently have.

the intercooler is very hard to see behind the mesh grille.

yea, but me personally, i don't like the mesh grill look. I just bought a new front bumper because i cut the huge black insert on my old one out so you could see the intercooler, now i need to hide it due to thieves I'll probably just paint the end tanks like others and be happy with it, ****, it's not like people won't know it's turbo when they hear the bov in their ear.

 

i used some cheapy 1200F generic spray paint.

 

looks good trigun, did you sand it down at all, did you paint the fins or tape off where the fins are, i can't really tell.

nope i didn't sand it .. all i did was mask off the fins with masking tape and spray about 3 layers onto everything else on the front of the IC. i left the back of the intercooler alone.

the pics that you see the fins are not masked.
