Default 350hp turbo

I'm looking for a decent quality turbo for my b16 build.
I need to make 350-400hp and I'm looking to spend about £400. (~$600)

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks.

Go-autoworks.com But you'll need some more cash then that, You'll still need fuel pump, injectors, Obd1 chipped ecu and a tune, Mabe even a exhaust if you don't have one already.

I'm running a bosch 044 with 550cc rx7 injectors. I've got hondata s200 for my obd1 ecu, but might change to chrome.
I'm basically changing my Holset H1 turbo for a faster spooling turbo, but needing a few ideas.
I could possibly stretch to $800 if I really needed to, but 350-400hp shouldn't be that hard to get.

A 57 trim would do the trick...if you find a used Garrett, they're typically around $4-500. A new one is mid-$600 range

A gt3071 would be perfect with room to grow... it would also have the best response out of an turbo others have listed.

I've done a bit of searching and found this.

Garrett GT3571
Wheel Inducer Diameter: 51.2mm
Wheel Exducer Diameter: 71.0mm
A/R: 0.60 /not 50 /
Turbine Specs:
Wheel Diameter: 68.0mm/62.3mm
A/R:1.05
* High performance BCI-18 compressor and UHP turbine
* 4-bolt turbine outlet flange
* T3 turbine inlet flange

Does this sound like it would be up to the job?
The seller says its good for up to 550hp, but sellers are prone to exaggeration!

Will this turbo get me the 350-400hp I want with a decent spool time, on a b16?

Thanks

Gt35 is abit too big.. Either go for a GT3076 / GT3071 or a 57 trim which will spool fast and make the power you want.

Get your stuff from Go-Autoworks definitely

GT3071 or even GT2871
GT35 is more than you need

Another great option is the Borg Warner S256 or S258/9. I used to run one on my built LS/VTEC and it made 385whp at 16psi on e85. It is an equivalent turbo to the GT3076. I agree with everyone else...the GT35 series is too big

I was just going to bring up the s256. I tuned a car with one a while back was was impressed with it. As was also said, can't go wrong with the 57 trim. That's what I used when I was at those power levels

I really liked mine. With an SLS shorty ramhorn, it had great response and wasn't much laggier than my previous GT3255, but after running one, the best part of it is the spool whine. It has the most piercing "dentist drill" sound

Right, I know it's going against what was said in here, but I went for a Holset HX40 hybrid.
Genuine Holset branded compressor housing with modified 6in bellmouth alloy inlet, 2.25in outlet.
8 blade (58mm inducer, 83mm exducer) HX40 compressor wheel.
Custom .63 a/r quick spool turbine housing with a T3 turbine inlet and 4bolt turbine outlet.
12 blade (64mm inducer, 76mm exducer) HX40 turbine wheel.
Oil cooled centre housing with 360deg thrust bearing.

What do you think?

Pictures of the compressor housing? The only holsets I know with inlets that large are units like the he431ve and larger vgt holset units

As big as the GT35 if not larger. so your focus for "response" is pretty much out the window. You went for mid-framed sized, to large size..

This would have been perfect (in budget, fits your goals, etc), but instead you opted for a tractor turbo. Solid choice

There isn't a 57 trim t04b... and the t04b compressor wheels are high ratio, so they're really only effective at high pressure ratios.

That's weird, does it still have the map width enhancement groove/anti surge? If not the turbo will perform poorly and have huge surge issues, not to mention a much narrower, inefficient map. I.e. you've fucked up the turbo and need a new compressor housing

And from the looks of it, that's an h1c compressor housing, which only has a 3" inlet and no anti surge and won't fit the hx40 compressor wheel. And if it was machined to fit, read above, the hex series needs an anti surge housing do to flow characteristics and pressure ratios.

Might want to double check exactly what you have.

Thanks for the feedback. I picked up the charger for cheap. If my tuner says its unmappable, then I'll sell it for a profit.
I also have a holset H1a turbo here.

Do you know much about them?

I don't know what to say, mine was BNIB turbonetics t3/t04b 57 trim .63 ar
I made 400whp at 13psi.

Mabe I miss-read the box.

Way too much. The hc1 is not ported ported shroud has a 3" inlet and a different compressor wheel

The hy/hc/35/40/351 has a ported shroud housing with a 4" inlet and a different wheel from the hc turbos, which is definitely not what you have,

At any reasonable pressure level you will have surge issues
