2001+ Civic Turbo?
Hey all,
I got a buddy with a 2K1 Civic EX. He lives up in Denver, and wants turbo bad. He keeps asking me questions about turbo'ing his car, but I dont know crap about that generation motor.
1.) The SOHC 1.7L VTEC is still a D block, so a D series turbo manifold bolt will bolt on, right?
2.) Has anyone here got a turbo on this new OBDIII motor? How does that work with all the extra sensors?

i have seen pics of RSX turbo
i am not sure about civic...
but i am pretty sure u need some major custom work !!!
u would be safer to measure the exhaust port to make sure a D series do fit

i think the 2k1's are still obdII. the best place to go for info on the 2k1's are 2k1civic.com tell him to get a member name and search. when he finds out everthing, tell him to come back here for the technical advice
Not sure if he's on the board but there is a new civic in NM that's turboed or maybe he just likes having an intercooler on the front. I know he works at Krispy Kreme there. Don't ask. lol....Krispy Kreme is the bomb.
i an make him a manifold and turbo setup if he wants. The ECU is the tricky part on those cars. You can purchase the AEM EMS and have full tunability with no check engine issues.

this car has fuel issues. it has a returnless fuel system. hks has a prototype kit but they are running just 5 psi due to the lack of fuel.
Hey Doug@Hondata, are you gonna work these ECUs into your product line? Need a reverse engineering engineer?
Take a closer look, that's a radiator. The 7G Civic's radiator looks an awful lot like an IC, my bro in law and sister have 7G's so I know what you're talking about. He even cut out his grille to show his FM-radiator
should be able to do the mechanical stuff without to much fuss...but the big problem comes with fuel tunig...
01+ civics are returnless fuel systems so fmu doesn't work.
forget about vafc hack because the new style injectors are physically <much> smaller
and forget about plugging in an aem unit....no where even close to plug and play....the amount of things controlled by the stock computer is more than what the current aem is setup for<did you know that the fuel guage and the low fuel light are controlled by this ecu?>
the ecu is flash programmable though so eventually somebody will figure out a way to coax more hp out of the cars

so basicly there is no way to run hondata or AEM EMS with this car? I know the actual turbo parts wont be a problem (turbo, mani, ic, piping) but the engine management is what I am concerned about.
The AFC hack WILL NOT work on this car? I realize that Hondata and AEM EMS are not for OBD III's, but u can just do a conversion of sorts like u can do for the OBD II to OBD I?

theres a whole plethora of reasons, sensors are different, different ignition systems, and on top of that the engine spins the wrong (right) way. Hondata requires that you us an obd1 computer and that computer will not control a d17
aem system IS now available...news to me.
reason vafc hack is difficult is availability of injectors that will physically fit into manifold..not wiring issue.
AND these Dseries motors DO still spin the wrong <counterclockwise> way

Rev-Hard has a turbo kit out for the RSX and Rev-Hard is coming out a turo for 01-02 civic....so far HKS has a turbo done for our civic...and there is a custom turbo shop up at NYC does turbo for our civic, but i forgot the name of that shop
