01 prelude turbo..hits vtec feels like is slows then picks back up

Like the tile says. It will rip all the way to vtec hit then it throws you foward a bit..then it starts to pull again. my buddy who tuned said he notice anything but i can feel it when i drive

Re: (DrivinVtec)

needs more tuning it seems.

If ur tuner cant feel it and u can, put it on a dyno.

DfwBB6 07-02-2007 06:36 PM

Re: (93supercoupe)

what are u tuned on?

Topdawgg 07-02-2007 06:50 PM

definetly in the tuning...

your tuner probably didnt get the fuel tables right for vtec...
IMO, id be lookin for a new tuner.. this guy doesnt know what hes doing...

did you have a wideband in? or on the dyno? what is the A/F like? around 4500-6000

DrivinVtec 07-02-2007 06:53 PM

Re: (Topdawgg)

it was tunned with crome an yes on wide band. street tuned

Topdawgg 07-02-2007 06:54 PM

Re: (DrivinVtec)

so what is the A/F lookin like in those areas?
you must have been in the car when he was tuning

Re: (Topdawgg)

maybe he set VTEC too early. but preludes usually like VTEC set really low

it would totally depend on the setup!!

injectors, spool time/turbo size....
its something that has to be played with

Re: (Topdawgg)

this was while back. i dont go in vtec very often. idk

Topdawgg 07-02-2007 07:14 PM

get it on the dyno, or get another wideband in it.... its a tuning problem, id bet money on it

DrivinVtec 07-02-2007 07:18 PM

its about to get rebuild with a new bottom end. ill just wont hit vtec in it to be safe.

DrivinVtec 07-02-2007 07:19 PM

oh..thanks for the help

Topdawgg 07-02-2007 07:20 PM

Re: (DrivinVtec)

get it on the dyno, why rip it apart if theres nothing wrong but just needs better tuning?

DrivinVtec 07-02-2007 07:31 PM

Re: (Topdawgg)

want more boost. only 7lbs now. looking for 14-20psi

Topdawgg 07-02-2007 07:51 PM

with a good tune, no reason why you couldnt do it on a stock block....

but its not a psi level, its HP that you set your goals at..

Like everyone said, its a tuning issue.

Re: (Topdawgg)

these h22 arent the best for boost. Id like a saftey point when make a street car. shooting close to 400whp https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

says who?
theres a local one here that ran 2 years on a 100 shot of nitrous, beat on at the track constantly...
and now has 430whp for 2 years in a row also beat on at the track...
stock h22....11.6 @ 119 mph a couple weeks ago...

i think you are the one that needs a search...

any motor is only as good as the tuning and quality of the turbo setup...

built or not...

what year is your h22? whats stamped on it?

this has been covered numerous times but if u say so!

Re: (Topdawgg)

It a h22a4 open deck block. The stock piston are the weak part of this motor.
