people need to stop talking about chips that say therell get a million hp. unless your geting a hondata or someother type of engine managment then dont post questions like this there all over this place. on a stock engine a chip wont do anything but blow your enigne. if you get a tune with hondata youd get maybe 10-15 hp. your driving a stock sohc which wont make power with out a turbo and money. and your driving an auto so drive it like it was built. a cheap reliable car that gets good gas milage.

To actually answer your question. Yes a stock automatic ecu can be chipped and tuned. Try to find a local tuner in your area. The only difference is you have to have a automatic bin iirc. Hondata works but you could also use neptune, ectune or crome.

To tune the car yourself you will need to chip the ecu, have a base bin, rom editor software, dataloger, chip burner and a wide band. Its also nice to have an emulator and dyno time.

Getting a basemap (chip) off anyone is imo a waist of time. Its a stab in the dark getting a custom tune is always better.

Thank you for an answer and not you're opinion on my car. It was bought for me as my first car and i have no problem driving it as an automatic still wins at stop light races. Would you happen to know how much money it would take to custom tune my car?

Depends on the tuners rates.

You already have the ECU, so that's $100 saved. Here's the cost of materials needed (we'll say Neptune/Demon to keep it simple):

Chipping kit: $16 http://www.moates.net/honda1-honda-e....html?cPath=69 *All this does is create a place to plug chips/circuit boards into*
Neptune/Demon combo pack: $399 http://www.moates.net/demon-hardware....html?cPath=69 *There are other options out there, but Neptune has the best customer service and support, which is essential for someone just entering the tuning world*
Wideband oxygen sensor: ~$200 depending on brand and style desired. This, often combined with datalogging, tells you what part of the tune needs to be adjusted. Tuning without one is basically guesswork.

You will also need a laptop with a USB port to tune with, if you don't already own one.

It should also be tuned on a dyno. Costs vary, but expect around $500 to have someone else tune it for you, or around $150/hour to tune the car yourself, on their dyno.

Thanks guys. For some reason my engine cost more than some of the DOHC vtecs so i may get it swapped out again and where i am i can get a manual for under $500 fly wheel and all. so i may do that then chip it. But again thank you.

It's worth noting that the NepTune/Demon combo comes with a chipping kit, so you don't need to buy that separately.

Always good to look 11 years into the past to plan the future.
