Default b20b basemap or full tune?

i have a b20b with the following bolt ons
0bd0>0bd1
skunk 2 intake manifold
b16 tb
apexi ws1
integra xsi b16 tranny
and some garbage header

im running a ls ecu, i was wondering should i just ask xenocron or katman to make up a basemap and juss leave it be till i get more in depth part (better header cams etc.) orrr should i just get fully tuned? and will a afc be sufficient for the time being? and last but not least wha do you think the numbers will be motor is fully rebuilt and very healthy. thanx in advance

On a baisic setup such as yours you could get away with a basemap. However for the BEST result you should consider a tune :-)

do not get into the mindset of asking people to e-dyno your motor.

its a basemap. I surely hope that you do not go ragging on your motor with it.

A basemaps sole purpose is to get you from pointA to pointB safely until you are tuned. At no point should you be full throttle or at high rpm's.

it would also help for us to know what engine management you are using.

xenocron has a bin directory on his site which is full of "tuned" maps if you have the ability to burn your own chips.

mtber, xenocron and quite a few others can get you what you need if you cant do it yourself. But you will need a socketed ecu, first of all.

If it will be a while until the motor is built, get the engine tuned. Personally, a stock ecu that is meant to run the motor will be better than any basemap.

so i guess i should just get it tuned cuz its not gettin cams till prolly september

and no i dnt plan on beatin my car def not

and i would use a stock ecu but the crv ecu is 0bd2 if im correct and im obd1 so an ls was the "best" ecu i could attain so the 1.8l ecu is running my 2.0l plus bolt ons so i guess a "real" tune is in order

also i definitley do not have the resources to do it myself, but i have been lookin it to engine manage ment and been leaning towards neptune (cheap price if i eventually have evans do my tune) or hondata s300 (its hondata and they have top notch rep)
i really dont know the big differences between the systems (complete noob to tuning terms) but i do know many many people in my area completley neglect "tuning" there cars and i dont like to half *** my stuff
thanks for the responses keep em comin

I don't know how much I would trust a basemap posted by some random user on a bin directory. A bin directory is one of the worst ideas known to man, I can't even count how many stories I have heard of people running bins from random internet forums & ending up with cracked ringlands/melted pistons etc.

Some people can't grasp that tuning is REQUIRED when it comes to a highly modified engine setup until they cook a motor.
