Default Wheel Hop

I'm looking for recommendations for dialing my suspension.

My setup:

99' Civic Ex Coupe
H22 w/ LSD
DSS axles
HCP Mounts (All fully filled, solid, no gaps, with poly urethane inserts)

Koni Yellows
ITR Springs.
GSR Fat Fives
Azenis (22psi front, 50 psi rear)

Before I put on the ITRs I had no wheel hop. It was great I was pulling 2.1 60s and having a blast. I had the koni setup at:
Front: 1/4 turn back from full stiff
Rear: 1/4 turn forward from full soft

After ITRs I am getting wheel hop again. My setup at the track was the same as above, the only change was the ITR springs and I had the rear shocks set at 1/2 turn forward from full soft.

Any suggestions to help dial out this wheel hop?

could be the Azenis. If the pressure and launch RPM isnt right they will hop like a ****. Id try and launch them higher

Damn, didn't think about that I guess. I usually roll around the water and do a quick spin to get anything stuck to the tires off and then launch at 3450 w/ ftl from uberdata.

I guess, but that is what I've launching at with great success. I guess I could try that for next time.

It was a very very cold night, especially for florida. I would've guessed it down into the 50s. You don't think the mini-burnout I do for about 1 sec before the run helps much?

not if its for a sec. all that will do is clean them off. you do realize after burnout your PSI goes up right? Compensate for that if you start doing a bigger burnout when its cold. Azenis really arent good drag tires. Esp not in the cold

sounds like to stiff of a spring or no side wall flex. you might be able to put a traction bar on the car to stop the A arms from moving.

I guess I never really thought about the cold thing. I was actually hoping to finally break into 13s that nice, but every launch was worse than the one before.

Spring too stiff? Really? I think fronts of any ITRs are only like 270lbs. For sure though there is def no sidewall flex. Azenis, I believe, have some kind of steel lining in the sidewall to make them stiffer than the average bear.

its not the springs being too stiff. sidewalls i will agree on though. thats why i said they arent good drag racing tires

which tires are good for drag in your opinion, what kind of tires do you use, and how is the wear on them?

How about adjusting the rear to the stiffest setting. Then it would be harder for weight to transfer and hop.

You could always get the competition engineering traction control radius arms
which eliminate wheel hop and improves 60 ft. times. What it does it locks your
front suspension together to get a better jump out the hole.

you got it all wrong man!!! Soften up the front and get that rear as soft as possible... also, dont drop the pressure in those azenis... The sidewalls are far too stiff, and by dropping pressure in them you are losing contact patch... And spend the money to get a traction bar... I've seen them do wonders....

Get the rear as soft as possible? Wouldnt that do more harm than good. Adusting the rear to its softest setting will allow weight to transfer especially during launch.

sorry, I said that backwards... Alcohol has owned me for the past few days... You are correct though, the rear should be as HARD as possible...

My new suspension will be Koni yellows (rear set to full stiff, front somewhere around the middle) and Ground Controls (600lb front, 900 rear)... I have seen easy 1.5 60's on this setup all day....

mid 2.2s, but the last time i went to the track i was pulling mid 2.1s.

I was right at 14.0 with the 2.1s, but i know i'm slightly faster overall, i just added wheel hop to the mix so i negated slightly whp gain.
