I've got 2 of them sitting on a shelf in the shop, trashed from being overheated. Flywheel and floater warped, and pressure plate not rebuildable because it got too hot.

When my car was a true daily driver I was running ACT xtreme 6 puck setup, At that time i was running 10.30's all day with no problems. I have built a couple more 500+hp daily driven cars for customers with twin discs and they hate it, also, over time we are having problems with the 1st gear syncoro getting hung up and not letting it go into gear, its a big pain in the ***, I imagine it has something to do with the harmonics of the discs and floaters.
Anyway, a TRUE 400-500 daily driven street car should not have a twin disc clutch, its not needed.

I sold a customer a Competition Clutch Stage 5 with the upgraded pressure plate over 2 years ago, he had made 450whp and has driven daily on it all this time in probably 3 different cars now. Has held up great for him.
I drove the Competition CLutch Twin on the street for over a year and loved it really, better than an stiff *** pucked clutch I had used before. My opinion at least

jason get the twin disk..
after roasting two 4 puck clutches. I learned my lesson the hard way.
don't worry about street driving u will get used to it. its funny stalling out on a red light once in a while

Like i said i have ran the single disc clutches with no problems (although the last stg. 5 in there was starting to slip) with up to 480whp. I just put my new motor in and plan on making 600-650whp in the future but it will have about 500-550whp for now. After talking with Chris from comp clutch and his experience with both i chose to go with the twin. The car is daily driven as well and sees a ton of track time.
We like the ClutchNet 6-puck unsprung disc with the heavy Racing pressure plate.. Used it on 2 cars making 400+ and another car making 550+... Been in use for a few years, street legal cars but don't drive around everyday, just some driving.
tourqe is what your looking for, tourque is people's main problem for a clutch slipping but 4 puck unspring is fun and not that hard to drive on the street...completly doable, and cheap to replace

Same clutch I have and I love it.

everyone using the stage 5 clutchmasters with upgraded pressure plate (same clutch going on my car now as we speak) What gear with slicks are you doing your burn out with?
I have a Teg That has 500whp and 390 ft lbs of torque and I use a ACT 6 puck.
Its fine for that every once in while track pass and i use it for the street all the time and does the job fine. I guess some of it has to do with the driver and what your doing with the car. It seems that everbody here has very good opinions
Good luck

Do you guys think the Comp. CLutch Stage 5 would hold up to 400whp street driving and occasional 550whp track use? I only drive the car a few times a month. I saw there is an upgrade to the pressure plate to the dual diaphram( i think) but im not sure if it will be worth it?
setup:
81mm gsr motor, t4 gt35e, gsr cams, .....so torque may not be as high as some of the 84mm guys,

yea i did the upgrade, were shooting for 500-550whp. my car will only see the track like once a month but will be driven on the street prob almost every friday up to a local car hang out but other then that... you get the picture. My set up is a b16 stock bore though so tq isnt gonna be as high as the 84mm people either..
But with the duel diaphram upgrade should hold 550whp but i wouldnt exspect it to last a long time either.. I plan on going with a twin disc after this clutch fails.

the stage 5 with upgraded pressure is more a very frim feeling and it engages pretty damn quick. The thing about that clutch with the upgraded pressure plate, its got ALOT of clamping force and is not reccomended for traffic driving, mainly highway/race only. So if your goin to go with it and if your going to drive it on th street try to avoid stop and go traffic.

I have a clutch masters twin disk 725 series. I had it for 3 years. With 550whp. Took a crap last week after 3 years of street driving. Never even raced it.
