welded diff stock axles...
i would guess they run the pro level dss axles and they take a 28 spline spool or lsd. but im unsure if racers would want a lsd since its something that can fail. when a spool really cant fail id think.
who knows what the outlaw guys run for diffs?
i wanna bet that they all run spools and are running 175+mph with a "locked" diff. same as a welded diff.
i would guess that most lsd's would break under a high amount of power and traction on a outlaw car.
anyone have info on there diff setups?

How often do slicks blow out? How often do import FWD cars break STOCK axles?(since that was the original discussion) If your running pro level DSS axles and a spool/welded diff, your doing a lot better than running stock axles and a welded diff/spool.
This whole spool and welded diff stuff comes from the RWD racers way back in the day. They break an axle, its a different game then a front wheel with a slick on it.

Amen.... Pass me or crash me lol i have ran a welded diff for 8 years and back.in the day the car never went slower than 12.0 even now i wouldnt have a problem with it if i had to use it but im down with tje spool theae dudea can cry all they want... Linkin locker for life
Hey, by your Sig, don't you own a fab shop or something? Interesting.
Didn't read the whole thread but don't be a jackass and run a spool on stock axles. Remember, someone who's probably not so careless is probably in the lane next to you.
And who the **** are you? I have had an axle break on the big end it wasnt that bad it wasnt at 150 but 125ish im not saying a car thats going super fast times should use one but for 10 second cars its owner preference... And yea i do own a shop and see more track time than most of the people on this forum. we go racing with what we have bro im not going to tell a customer not to go to an event because he cant afford a diff...
We get everyone's point. Its getting redundant. Youre not changing anyones mind. Ill run what I have, and you run what you have. If you want me to run an LSD, give me one...
I hate to bump this thread, but I did not want to make a new one. I'm running a welded diff because that's what came on the car. I'm running DSS 2.9 axles though, not stock ones. Some of the pictures in this thread have me wanting to replace the welded diff with an LSD. Even though I'm sure they hook well, I think it must be pretty difficult to drive with a welded diff/spool on the street, I'm not sure why those guys that wrecked were even doing that.
I'm guessing that it is usually the axles that breaks that sends cars into a wall, but what happens if the diff fails?

Dont do it!... Its dangerous and can hurt u real bad. I got every lucky when broke. good thing i was not running anyone.. I will never do that again.

Just buy a used quaife sometimes you can find them around 500 or so. I got 99 problems but a diff ain't one. And remember that obx diff is garbage.
well guess what ive seen a car at my track not saying there name but i seen it hit the wall off the line due to a axle breaking and it had a QUAIFE lsd in it and had aftermarket axles in it. its called parts break no matter who makes it or how much it costs. all parts break. ive seen mark williams axles break, DSS axles break, stock axles etc. a flaw in the machining process can cause a axle to break first pass. not everything is perfect
