Default slicks help...fast

ok, would it even be worth my time to toss on some 20x6/8 slicks? not sure on the width, yet.

i have about 175whp...and an LSD.

i'm just going to the strip tommorrow to play around with my stock engine, before we start the build.

Hi RLZengineEJ6 I would wait untill you do the mods before you buy slicks, slicks are not cheap. If you put in more HP with the slicks you buy you just threw money away, just for one night I would wait.

I ran slicks with with less horsepower than you. 22 x 8 x 13" MH slicks and i was pleased with the results (sig). If money isn't an issue i say go for it and buy some slicks. What does your set up consist of anywayz?

I would say it's worth borrowing them but not to buy them. Also consider your gear ratio's if you have short gears then you might be shiffting into 5th with such a low side wall. Rob

U GOT LSD, SO I WOULD USE THE SLICKS EVEN IF I WAS STOCK GSR OR ITR MOTOR, THE LSD AND SOME SLICKS WILL DO WONDERS, AT THE TRACK THOUGH, I WOULDNT RUN SLICKS EVEN IF UR GOING TO THE STREET RACES, MAYBE SOME AZENIS IS A BETTER BET FOR U RIGHT NOW ID SAY AZENIS OR 555R'S FOR THE STREET AND UR ALL OUT SLICKS AT THE TRACK

Hi sircrxracer, now this is a good thing he is only going out for one race, and if he goes out and buy the 8/20-13, and then after he builds more HP and then he finds out he has to go to a bigger size, dont you think he wasted his $ what do you think.

Yes that's why I said just borrow them.... you add more HP you will need more side wall for sure. It's not "worth" it to go out and buy 20" slicks when your going to add more HP later. Rob

I would think it would be a waste. The 22 wouldnt be much more than the 20...

John, care to add thought?

Hi Ben; going from 20" to 22" you better have your tranny gears right lol, 2" is alot but not big. So you better find some more HP to pull 2" more.

well, the race was snowed/iced out

but the track is going to stay open for the winter months (weather permiting) on sundays. So i'll be racing all winter hopefully.

right now, i have 20/6/14 and 22/8/15 (both MT...eww) that i'm borrowing. I'm thinking that some nice 22/??/13 MH's would be much nicer though.

so when i get off the dyno, and I can PM john my numbers...i'll know what size i need

and, John, THANKS for the help...even though I'm slack on info as of now

John for president!
