Default side exit header theory

Has anyone ever tried this before?

I was talking with a friend who used to run circle track and he was telling me that they used to have their exhaust exit just in front of the rear wheel on both sides of the car. What that would do is heat up the tires and kept them sticky. So grip was amazing around the turns.

Now.. my theory here is.. can the header of a 4cyl Honda motor be divided with 2 splitting runners running to both sides of the car in front of both tires. I know there will be a difference in length, but will the heat be too much or not enough.. since it's only drag racing. The duration of the 8-12 second pass might not make a difference, or will it? Hm....

There's also the possibility of it over heating and blistering the slick.

What do you guys think? Am I crazy or what?

the best exit is straight out the back use the force from exhaust to propell you forward also if you come out the side that force would make your car go in the opposite direction of the exhaust exit especially if the tires aint grippin, take advantage of that extra energy and don't waste it out the side.

Dumping your exhaust right in front of your tires sounds like a great idea...until you blow up your motor and blow oil and water all over your tires...

Well put. I thought about that as well.

Just throwing this topic on here for conversational piece. Just seemed somewhat interesting and wondered if anyone ever thought of this before as well. Or am I just that wacked?

I mean are there any relative benefits in doing this for a drag car? or any form of motorsports for that matter. Let's forget about the possible oil and water contamination for a minute here.

Benefits? Pros adn Cons (other than the oil and water )

You wont see the benefits in drag racing...Burnouts take care of that.

Yeah.. that's what I figured too.

Now for the Hot Rod guys who spin all the way down the track. Maybe this might benefit them a bit.. Since you're blazing down the track.. with blazing hot exhaust firing at the slicks.. it might help with traction. Hm...
