Mine is NHRA certified and the to back bars are welded to a bar that links the strut towers together. So I would say his way is legal to.

I thought all the plates had to be 6"x6". The plates that the rear bars are anchored to don't look that size to me.

6"x6" on the 4-points in the driver compartment. the rule book isnt clear on if all plates have to be that size. most techs dont pay atttetion to the rule book. if u look carefully on most import race cars, there still missing 1 bar on each side of the car. they from the lower portion of the main hoop to the lower portion of the forward supports. the rule book marks it as an "A" tube. "A" tube = 1 5/8" x .120 MS and 1 5/8" x .083 CM. its the bar thats below the sidebar.

My civic has a Kens 10pt moly that is tig welded together. Then tig'd to 6x6 floor plates and the plates are mig'd to the floor. I hope this is legal.

1.mig welding plates to floor is legal with chromolly tubing, so long as chromolly tubing is tig welded to plates.

2. in the rule book it says whenbolting plates to floor they must be 6x6

3. when it says welding to rocker must weld main hoop to
rocker sill area with .125-inch reinforcing plates, with plates welded
completely. does not say that they need to be 6x6 although most people do it just to be on the safe side....as it all depends on the inspector....

hope this sheds some light
