So my car has the potential to run somewhere in the high 11's, not that i will be able to without more skill and some minor weight reduction which will come sooner or later BUT what is the current NHRA rules for roll bars, some places say 11.99 others say 11.49?

 

Im pretty sure it is 10.00 to 11.49 you need a 6 point roll bar. However, if you exceed 135mph you need a roll cage.

 

If you would like the nhra rulebook from 2007 which was the last year of the sport compact series if memory serves me correctly pm me your email addy I still hve the pdf file of the entire rulebook.

 

10.00-11.49 requires a 5 point roll bar. It used to be 11.99 but was lowered when stock Vettes were faster than that

 

WTF is a 5 point? Main hoop is 2 and then the bars that run to the back makes 4 and I know they don't consider the cross brace in the main hoop a point because it isn't attached to it's own floor mount. Do you have a far right down the center going to the back then? So like 3 bars?

 

Main hoop is 2.
Rear bars are 2.
Door bar is 1. If you have a passenger side door bar, its 2. But not mandatory, unless you have a 10 point.

 

Ahhh I've never seen just 1 side done for a door bar but I guess if it was allowed in your class you would save a little weight.

 

Its allowed in any class. Its legal to 10.0 or 135 just like a 6 point. Symmetry is more common, so that might be why youve never seen it. Ive seen it quite a bit though. Its NHRA legal. Nothing class specific about it.

 

It is class specific if it's for cars that run slower than a 9.99 and under 136MPH.

 

man I might have just learned something here, let me know if i read this right... So if your car MPH is 135 or faster you have to have a 10point or just a 6point?

okay, but it seems to be 11.49 which is good, i should just buy it incase the local track trys to pull anything
