Default Problem with DSS axles? anyone else experience this?

Well, I took my car to a honda dealership as my buddy works there to get a safety inspection so I can register my car. Well, we noticed that the driver side inner cv boot was shredded to ****. the passenger side inner cv boot was also torn but not as bad.

Upon acceleration of the car, it vibrates like crazy and when doing right turns (the side where the CV boot was shredded to ****). It doesn't vibrate on left turns or on deceleration.

I am maybe wondering if the axle is too long? I called driveshaftshop and was really friendly to them. My car only has 200 miles on it so far on my new setup;. They are stage 3 axles and Frank at DSS was kind of being a dick to me and I took offence when he said
"Well, you obviously ran over something hard. They don't just do that" .

I was liike wow....my car only has 200 miles on it, I'm babying this thing so far, I think I woulda known if I ran into something hard!

Anyone else ran into this problem? What can it be? Worst part is I can't put stock axles in because of the hubs so my car is down.

Boots are known to have some problems here and there.... Try putting a new set of boots on them and see if that cures it... As for Frank, He is a great guy.... Maybe he was having a bad day????

I have had my stage 3s for over 2 years/10k miles and haven had an issue. Although the the axle came a apart once, other than that it' been fine. It could just have been a factory defect. Just send them back to be fix since its under warranty.

well theres 2 problems right off the top of my head, your car is a crx right ?
and you have a b motor im assuming your intermediate shaft has to be a jdm one cuz the us ones are too long ,
2nd the axle is too long or you didnt pull out the inner dust ring that goes into the spindle, also did you change the hub itself?
i think all of these would do that but what mounts are you using as well? i think its your half shaft for sure cuz he would send you the wrong one there the same size as all 91 int axles hope this is a little help to you

i never had problems with boots on DSS, but i have dealt with frank before id say 50 50 good bad with dealing with him

i end up buyin a set of stg 2s from them, (old style) broke one, sent back got a newer stg 2, ended up sendin back to upgrade to stg 3s, then told me one was not a stg 2 (even though i bought from them) to top it off they kept my other axle and never gave it back even though was nothing wrong with it, etc

so im not so HAPPY with DSS

(keep in mind i broke 2 sets of stg 2 that were suppose to handle more power then i was making, o well that is racing)

My car is a 1990 honda civic hatch. I have an intermediate shaft from a JDM gsr swap so yes it is a JDM one.

Where is the inner dust ring that I am supposed to pull out? I didn't do that...

The hubs were changed for these axles and I got a shop to press them in for me. Got new wheel bearings at the same time. I am using Hasport mounts.

and I made a mistake on my first post. On left turns it vibrates like crazy. So it seems like its the driver side axle thats causing it since when you turn left you put stress on the right side. The vibration seems to come from the right side.

You would not have the dust ring still there because you have a level 3 which comes with new hubs. I cant say what the problem is, Frank is a nice guy to deal with in my experience. I would say though to check the wheel bearing to make sure its not loose and check the steering knuckle as well. I know they dont warrenty the boots from breaking, but im sure they wouldnt charge much either to replace since you just bought them.

theres your problem !!!you have to use a 89-91 jdm b16a sk7 intermediate shaft it is 3/4" shorter then the gsr and plus the dust ring is pressed on the inner part of your front hub assembly its a metal ring that is in the inside part where you put your axles in just pop it off with a flat head screw driver ,but i know the half shaft is causing the problem

it wont matter that you installed new hubs ,im talking about the bbody of the hub assembly on the inside there is a 5 inch ring that goes inside the assembly that you need to remove because the axles have a slight bigger assembly so it will rub and push the axle out just a bit so it wont seat in the hub lots of people do this and doesnt look wrong at all but youll see what im talking about when you see it, your still using stock hub assemblys right? 91 civic?

ok well the thing is it does not seem to be a halfshaft problem. when I turn left you can totally tell it is vibrating on the right side (right axle??) . when you turn right all is fine. sometimes during acceleration it vibrates bad also.

When I search on ebay for halfshafts it says gsr and b16a ones are the same? same part #? grrr this is frustrating

Well, Frank @ DSS just sent me new boots for the axles, I just think they were clamped too close to the end and they were squashed as to why they were torn after 200 miles of use. Now to fix the vibration part.....
