PPG's Solution to cracking/breaking transmission cases
This is the B series set. H's are possibly in the works. PPG says the "case brace" is not "needed" for the H/K dogbox gearset but can be made. What are everyones thoughts?


Obviously the brace is a safer bet, but considering it will change the price of the gear set at least $500, is it something people would be willing to do without if it's deemed not necessary on the H kit? What is extra insurance worth?
That's the point I was making. For the extra $500 give or take I'd rather just have it done for peace of mind. If something would go wrong ( not saying it would or would not ) The cost would be alot more then $500. Also not to mention the down time or waiting for a fix.

i think we are actually gonna have to put a dog box in a powerful h series to see if the casing is going to break or not. but like tony says i doesnt hurt to have it for extra insurance. I really need on of those boxes for the H. I broke two trans in the same event. cant even get down the track anymore.

On top of that, comparing this set to a Liberty and saying it's overpriced is apples to oranges. The Liberty doesn't have the lower brace and looking at the gear stacks next to each other there's no question which one will be stronger. I'll try to find the pics of my liberty stack for comparison.
Keep in mind, PPG primarily does rallye cars and also does Shep's dogboxes, so it's safe to say they know what materials and heat treats work for this kind of stuff and can build and design a good gearbox.

Tony I'm going to ask, and please don't anyone get their panties in a bunch over this. But I want to know what you saw between the two stacks that tells you that this unit is so much better than the Liberty? I'm not knocking this set at all, and Eric seems to be a super stand up guy that truly believes in his product. But I know that one of my very good friends has his Liberty and it seems to be working pretty well for him.

When i talked to Eric yesterday the engineer at PPG said the H's looked a bit stronger than the K's and they don't seem to be having a problem with the case. So i am fine with or without it. I just cant wait till they make the H Sets! Thanks Eric!
I have 3 cars in my shop with dog boxes,2 G-force and a liberty.Jesus Christ just by pictures i can tell that PPG is F-ing Bomb proof compared to the rest.PPG FTW!!!!!!!
